No it doesn't. It looks good. It would be nice if we didn't to pretty much solely rely on Stallone to give us decent action films, by that I mean those in the mould of 80s action films.

Red Heat and 48 Hours are good!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

It's wicked, probably taking to long to get going but not that's a minor complaint. The Dark Knight is my fave of the trilogy. Bane is ace, The Joker is better. I'd have preferred to have seen it in IMAX but that option is now 1.5 hours away, whilst I am "spoilt" for choice of 3D compatible screens ...

The Bean movies are piss poor compared to the tv series. It all went to pot when the yanks got involved.

Re: Criterion Blu-ray Plans Revealed

ITMFL for me too. My first Criterion Blu-ray! I'd even pay Criterion prices for this one. Hmm I see what you mean, they seem to be interactive essays and biographies that you used to get on DVDs and they don't seem to bother with on Blu. That's my guess too. The DVD is very old and like you say, tho...

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

And now for a review I am much happier with (no idea when it's actually gonna be published though): The Devils: 5 out of 5 In 1971 filmmaker Ken Russell released arguably his most controversial film, The Devils, loosely based on real life events depicted in the 1952 book The Devils of Loudun by Aldo...

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

I wrote this on 13th of June for Artrocker magazine and it looks like I forgot to post it. I rushed this one a little and am not entirely happy with how it flows, as usual this is the unabridged version prior to the Reviews Editor shortens it. Annoyingly the magazine is nearly a month late and still...

How could you NOT notice? See you say that but you guys are in the minority for noticing, millions of people watch movies, only a handful notice. So I ask "How COULD you notice?" ;) (being deliberately flippant, no need to actually answer that one). Besides, like I said, I tend to be watching...

Why would you want to watch out for the stunt doubles? Just enjoy the movie. Thanks to this forum, that scene in Terminator 2 on the bike has been literally ruined for me. I never saw it before, now I see it every time!

TDK definitely wasn't "certainly flawed", not perfect but pretty darn close for a superhero film. That is all.

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

It's nowhere near as good as Total Recall or Commando! :D  :o Oh come on, Total Recall I can see the point but Commando is a joke, a fun joke perhaps but everything about it stinks. At least Red Heat doesn't do that. I've never got why Red Heat gets such a bad rap. And Red Heat is certainly b...

So you both have something in common, eh? My professional life says otherwise. Brad loves Red Heat. I wouldn't go that far but it's better than Running Man, Total Recall (although that is good too) and certainly better than Commando and Last Action Hero. Red Heat (1988): 3.5/5 although the ch...

Raw Deal is pretty rubbish. I was about to say it must be an early Schwarzenegger movie but shockingly it came after Conan the Barbarian and The Terminator. The script is dreadful and it looks like Schwarzenegger is struggling with the language.

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

I'm not a fan of silent cinema (though it works fine for slapstick comedies). I was engaged by The Artist but only as a one off. I wouldn't want to see more of the same. That doesn't make it a handicap but fair enough, I take your point. Frankly I would've given this a '15' over a 'PG'. 15! Bloody ...

Re: The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

To be fair it's only 12mins longer than Dark Knight. I'd love to see this in Imax but since they closed Bristol's Imax, I'd have to go to Cardiff and that's too far to bother. I'm SO, SO pleased there is no 3D option on this one because it would've meant I'd have to see Dark Knight Rises in the smal...

The Artist (2011-France-Belgium) *** As entertainment it's only slightly less successful (the silent treatment is a handicap). How do you mean? The Artist (2011-France-Belgium) *** The attempted suicide is too intense for a PG cert, so not for kids, even though the rest of the film is fine That is ...

Cube (1997-Canada) **½ Gripping much of the way... but one character's sudden turn into indestructable psycho destroys credibility as does a total lack of explanation for the titular cube's practical purpose. How did you see this? I've been meaning to buy it but the BDs are expensive and the anamor...
