Re: The Jackie Chan World Cup

Couldn't you just have picked 4 more of his films and had 8 ties to start with? Cause now, I've not seen Dragon Lord of 1911, so can't fairly vote in either of those ties... and what I consider his best films aren't even in play!! The list needs Police Story 3, Meals On Wheels, City Hunter, Drunken ...

Reservoir Dogs vs Pulp Fiction

Kill Bill Vol. 1 vs Kill Bill Vol. 2

Not a QT fan in the slightest. Only like KB1, the rest of the list that I've seen I think are rather crap.

Missed a few rounds it seems cause of New Year...

Can't believe Hard Boiled got knocked out. What were all you lot thinking? It beats both these films in the final with ease, IMO.

Of these 2, I don't know which one I would class as better. They are both good. So my result is a draw between the two.

Likewise with Hard Boiled. Take the action away, and it is pretty much forgettable. But the action IS there, and it IS awesome.

Does watching any of them in the dubbed versions take much away? Or should I stay a purist and only watch them subbed?

Miyazaki films... your thoughts

Started to post this in the asian film ratings post, but thought so I don't lose the answers I'd start a new post. I've not seen as many Miyazaki films as I'd like yet, so can people give a run down of their ratings for his films, so I know where to start off next. His feature films as director are:...

In fact I'll finish this post here and start that as a new thread topic.

No, not tried any of the Eden builds yet. Waiting until the final version is released, mainly cause IF there is any problems or bugs, I don't want to risk rescanning my entire collection again! Not read up too much on what improvements and new features there are going to be with Eden. cause I've got...

Re: The HTPC thread... (was "Has anyone got My Sassy Girl DC

I use the IMDB film scraper rather than the ThemovieDB one, mainly cause when it brings up the film's rating, on themoviedv it is from like 20 votes, whereas teh imdb rating is based on much more votes. But the IMDB scraper also allows to download covers from themoviedb as well, so figure you get th...

Oooh. Tough one. Total Recall, a classic Arnie action fest, with great over the top acting and cheese. Starship Troopers, a great comic book violence and gore film, with cheesy acting and very over the top. Which would I rather watch again the most...? Total Recall vs Starship Troopers "They sucked ...

I use that mkvtoolnix to add subtitles that I can burn in sometimes. If I've got a film that has a separate subtitle track (.srt or something) I can add it in using handbrake, but I can't burn them on the print, which is what I prefer. However, if I use mkvtoolnix to make an mkv file with the origin...

Right, My settings will depend on the source material. Generally I don't touch anything in the "Picture" tab. On Video Filters, I'll do a preview with none of them checked to see what it looks like. Generally if it is an interlaced source, I'll check the Detelecine and Decomb boxes making them "defa...
