Re: Your Favourite Books

It is short, and is ok. Nothing that special. Likewise with his short that inspired Minority Report.

Re: Your Favourite Books

Contact - Carl Sagan. Has a slightly different route to the ending than the film, but if you like your educational sci-fi, then this is a great read. His Dark Materials trilogy - Awesome books. Full of fantasy, action and a good story. I actually find the 3rd book the weakest, even though it is the ...

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

No not forgotten, just the explanation appears to have been completely missed by you!! The ships that had their computers disabled were more modern ships, with networking and more advanced technology. The old ships, like BSG and the individual pilot ships (can't remember what they are called) are ba...

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

Sorry dude. Not going to explain it for you! You're just going to have to watch it to find out! Not going to ruin any of the excitement or anticipation. It is a long running plot thread, so it is worth not knowing before hand. I hate the spoilers at the start of each episode too. Skip them every tim...

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

By director are you meaning Gias Baltar (not sure of spelling)?

If you are, and I don't see who else you could be meaning, it does all get explained eventually. Not necessarily in series 1 though.

Most questions are answered in the show at some point, with a few left to the imagination.

Re: The Oliver Stone World Cup

Ok, I think you are completely wrong in your approach here. You made a mistake. You said waiting for Hung (or whoever it was), but no mention of me, not question asking if I could vote, no mention of "will wait another 2 hours, 12 hours, day" or whatever for all votes. I could vote, you closed the d...

Re: The Oliver Stone World Cup

Well, if you omit all the votes that disagree with yours you can have all your fave films win!! I voted in round 1, so surely that enters me into this World Cup, thereby making me eligible to vote in any round where I can. I could vote in the final, as I'd seen both films, so surely I should be allo...

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

Lost is awesome. Yes the finale wasn't what everyone hoped for, but it doesn't stop the rest of the show being brilliant. Some proper "absolutely must watch the next episode" feelings when an episode ends. For me BSG was just as good. Got through it so quickly as I just had to watch the next episode...

Platoon vs Natural Born Killers

So Updated Final Score:

Platoon (2) vs Natural Born Killers (3)

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

Ok, going to narrow these down to about 5 of the ones that I either know to be awesome or have been reliably informed of their awesomeness. I'm omitting the ones that you've seem to have seen some of (24, True blood, Grey's, Alias etc) Breaking Bad Dexter Fringe House The Sopranos Now I'd put Battle...

Re: Name me your top 5 USA TV Series since 2000 (no comedies

Battlestar is one of the best sci-fi shows I've ever seen. By "episodic" do you mean that most episodes are rather stand alone? If so, wait till it gets going more, it becomes simply awesome. Don't bother watching The Plan though. So obviously Lost and 24 etc. Other programs worth watching are: True...

Well according to our sample, I'd say it is about 1/3 of Jackie's best based on votes... Or possibly Jackie's 2nd best based on position. That's quite near his best.

The Young Master vs Police Story Mr. Canton & Lady Rose vs Operation Condor - Is too difficult to call this one. Both are awesome. Edit - I had voted on the last one, but then I thought I'd made the wrong decision so I was going to change it, but I can't make up my mind. So I'm abstaining from it. I...

Re: What general film/series have you just seen.. marks out

Super 8 - 3/5 Lots of individually good bits that combine together to make a film weaker than the some of its parts. Parallels are made in the various plot threads that aren't parallel, we're wanted to feel sympathy for something that is killing lots of people, things happen without any explanation...
