Help identifying an Asian gangster film please...
I saw the tail end of an Asian film a few years ago that looked absolutely brutal. I'd love to see it in its entirety but don't know what it is called. I don't know if it's Japanese or Korean, but it concluded with two gangsters supposedly meeting to confirm affable relations beside a river, only for one to bludgeon the other to death with a rock. Any one recognise the scene and the film it is from?

Sounds like A Dirty Carnival, or perhaps Friend.
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I posed an identical query on IMDB, and someone came back with the film I was thinking of there. It's a Hong Kong Triad film called the "Election". Looking forward to watching it again, and then its sequel, "Triad Election".

Stumbled into the last twenty minutes of it on channel 4 several years ago. Blew me away. Looking forward to finally watching the full film.

Great film. I came too late to answer. That is Simon Yam doing the head destruction there. There is an even more violent scene in Triad Election. I have both on Tartan Extreme DVD (R1) releases. Be careful of what you say when you fish with your boss. I'm a Johnnie To fan. I've seen 40 or so of his directed films. The sequel is good as well.Ishtra31 wrote:I posed an identical query on IMDB, and someone came back with the film I was thinking of there. It's a Hong Kong Triad film called the "Election".
