This news is already a few weeks old but it shouldn't go without mention, I think. Kazuo Koike was responsible for the source mangas for some of the most beloved and batshit insane films to ever come out of Asia: LONE WOLF AND CUB, LADY SNOWBLOOD, HANZO THE RAZOR, DEMON SPIES, CRYING FREEMAN and, of course, MODERN DEMON GRANNY: MURDER LOVE!
He died on April 17th of complications related to pneumonia. He was 82.
Maybe Toei can use this opportunity to finally give 下苅り半次郎 (秘)観音を探せ a home video release.

Re: Kazuo Koike (1936-2019)
I heard about this a few weeks ago. What a shame. At least Criterion managed to interview him before his death.
I'd love to see Demon Spies come out on BD. I love that film. Amazon JP is streaming it in HD, though I haven't watched that stream. Saw it in 35mm about 5 years ago. I've got the old Animeigo DVD too, which recall not being all that good.
