Just finished True Blood season 4, and HOLY F*CK!!!! Holy f*****, *$%)"$%, *"£*$"£))!, £"$**£$%*)"£)*"£($&(^£$%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now absolutely NEED season 5!!

It was like a cliff hanging over the edge of a cliff, and that too hanging over the edge of a cliff!!!

And I'm not being sarcastic.

Seriously, that ending has just upped my rating for the whole thing to a 5/5. And I cannot wait till season 5 is out/aired.

Wow.

Spartcaus: Blood and Sand: 4/5

A cross between 300 and Gladiator with some of the political intrigue of the BBC's Rome, it's certainly entertaining enough with bloody battles shot in an 300-like way with rock music and slow motion. Some of the acting was surprisingly strong, especially Spartacus, his friend Varro and Batiatus.
Also the series is very steamy, these women are hot  Especially Sura, Naevia and Mira :D

Sherlock: Season 1 (Episode 1): 4.5/5

The modern version of Sherlock Holmes by the BBC, thought it was very good. The mystery was very clever even though I was thinking "How the hell did he work that out?", the performances are very good, I liked the way clues appeared on the screen, meaning you have to pay attention, so you kinda solve the mystery with Holmes.

Boys From The Blackstuff - ★★★★★
- My dad had all the episodes on VHS when I was a kid. I didn't quite understand everything at that particular time, but I really enjoyed it. Picked up the 3 disc set a couple of weeks back and watched it all again. Fantastic stuff!

That it is :D
I like the "Opposite Day" episode when Spongebob is trying to be like Squidward, he actually does a good impression but Patrick just runs around going "I'm Squidward, I'm Squidward, Squidward Squidward" :D Gotta love "Sailor Mouth" :P
"The Algae's Always Greener" (S3) and "Snowball Effect" are hilarious :D

What's Netflix like? Why are you using it over Love Film? Doesn't the latter have more choice?

I'm on 12 months free Lovefilm, and 1 month free Netflix. The HD streaming on Netflix is impressive, however:

Poor selection
Many 2.35:1 films are cropped to 1.78:1
Many films have sound synch issues
Sometimes an HD film will play in SD
Some anime series I checked out were English dub only

Getting REALLY fed up with Question Time. It's turned into a left-wing wank fest. Actually it's always been like that but last week was worse than usual. Perhaps the only programme in the western world where The Daily Mail would receive more hate than Abu Qatada!

Not really. The irony is I'm not right-wing in most regards with the possible exception of crime and punishment. Mostly I'd say I'm a centrist with occasional shifts to centre-left and centre-right. I'm FAR from an extremist. But because Britain has lurched to the left (at least that's what Question Time and the BBC would have have us believe) it makes centrists appear more to the right than they actually are. In certain American circles I would be denounced as some socialist-liberal type. That's because their country leans toward the right. The BBC constantly stacks the odds each Question Time and purposely fills their panels and audiences with left-wingers. It's been like that for a long, long time, but has gotten worse under the new editor's regime (unsurprisingly he's a committed socialist). I expect a balanced debate on political programmes not a left-wing gang bang. With the possible exception of Fox News (which I don't have access to) there's no right-wing equivilent to speak of/condemn (which I would were I to see it). However a fundamental difference is that the BBC is taxpayer funded and there to reflect all political views not just their own pet agendas.

WTF is centric? Have an opinion dude ;) (I know what centric means). I know you're not extreme but you do come across as right winger, nothing wrong with that per se except I disagree with it a lot of the time.
at least that's what Question Time and the BBC would have have us believe
Even if that were true and I don't think it is, the country hasn't. The Tories aren't lefties and are only working with the Lib Dems out of no choice. Listen to the average joe on the street, there's as much left as right wing opinion.

Agreed America is more right than left wing but it depends on the state, California is left and has more say than many of the smaller states.

How the heck can this country be going to the left when the tories force terminally ill people into work?

And the daily mail deserves all the hate it gets.

That sounds like rubbish. No country anywhere forces terminally ill people into work.
And the daily mail deserves all the hate it gets.
Care to explain?

Rome S1 (E11 & 12): 3.5/5

Good production and certainly well acted but Spartacus: Blood and Sand was more fun. The Gladiator fight scene in one episode is good however.

Tipping The Velvet (BBC, 2002): 3.5/5

BBC drama about an oyster girl named Nancy/Nan (Rachel Stirling) who falls in love with a male impersonator (!) in the music hall (Keeley Hawes), while it is partly about lesbianism in late Victorian society I dont think thats the entire story, its just as much about self discovery and finding happiness. Keeley Hawes was beautiful, I confess I expected the programme to be more explicit given its' reputation at the time. While Nan sometimes goes through hardships sometimes it seemed like a Carry On film or What the Butler saw kind of thing, other times the love scenes had real tenderness.
