London riots...

Some scary stuff going on over the past few days - it was quite eerie watching the news last night and this morning :(
Was it the shooting/killing of a man (can't recall his name) by the police maybe what sparked it off? And then tossers see that as an excuse to steal and cause violence and fear :( Buildings and flats were set on fire with innocent people in them.

This made me angry:

And its not just in London either.

Crazy stuff indeed. Haven't really paid attention to the news these last few days so I'm pretty much just learning about it today, cause suddenly it's here in the media as well.

I think it's time to activate the Bat-Signal.

Thankfully Third Windows' stock was insured.

Cine-Asia's stock was in there as well. I think it happened to them once before with HKL.

That one is especially sickening. I've been trying to sign this since yesterday but the site keeps crashing:

Top e-petition demands axing of benefits for rioters: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-14474429

Our liberal laws are too ingrained to ever change.

These scumbags will walk away with a slap on the wrist as per usual.

Cutting their benefits would probably contravene their "human rights".

You reckon 1200 people won't get charged?

Oh, sure, many will be charged... but the punishments will be light.

All tough talk and no real action.

The only problem with cutting the benefits is...do we really want to incite more robberies?

I think something like a chain gang would be great - imagine smashing rocks in this wet weather!

And OT, but will the Government be so dilligent in punishing the bankers who have ruined society with their reckless gambling? Thought not.

As many of you will already know by know, some valuable stuff has been lost in these fires...

... among them:
- Arrow Films
- Artifical Eye
- The BFI
- Crabtree Films
- Cine-Asia
- Dogwoof Films
- Exposure Cinema
- Eureka en Masters of Cinema
- Kaleidoscope Films
- Left Films
- Metrodome Films
- Peccadillo Pictures
- Revolver Entertainment
- Showbox Home Entertainment
- Terracotta

... with certain items lost and thus going out of print forever, while others will be far harder to find than before...

That's a real shame :(
Is Cine Asia's stuff insured or is it all gone (same for Artificial Eye)? I certainly have a few of their BD's/DVDs.
