Not surprising, you didn't go colonising South Asia

. What about Indonesian food? Lots of outlets I imagine.

Indian Curry is officially the most popular meal in the UK. It has been since I can remember. I had a curry on Friday night with work, it was nice but I prefer Far East Asian food.

Indonesian food here isn't really existent. They kinda blended the crap stuff from chinese food, and the crap stuff from indonesian food, and they sell that as 'chinese' food.

The only 'indonesian' food is the occasional indonesian toko that might sell some snacks, like 'Risolles Pedis' (which is very nice).

I'm really glad I've learned about proper chinese food, and not the bullshit they serve westerners.

You can never expect fully authentic food in Western outlets. Thai food is very different in Thailand, to The UK. It's still essentially Thai food but very different.

We went to a restaurant called "Chez Muntaj" (I think) which said it had "French-Asian cuisine" - so basically Indian with some influences. Some of it was really very nice indeed, and of a higher class than your average Indian IMO.
I had some spicy chicken dish in sauce infused with lime leaves - you could really taste the lime

We shared side dishes, bread, rice etc

It's a shame though, isn't it!? here in Holland we have 'chinese' restaurants, and they have a fully chinese kitchen and staff... yet they serve crap that they THINK 'we' want.

I just want some fried rice, ho faan, char sui, koo li yuk, etc. But instead they serve shite variations on that kinda food.

I do look forward to Hong Kong: Nice chinese, but also nice thai and vietnamese food. Plus we should try to find some korean food somewhere. I remember the foodcourt in Tung Chung had a korean stall, but not sure if we tried any of the food there ...

Ho Faan is just a kind of noodles, usually served with slices of beef.
Char Sui = grilled (or something) pork, sliced in small pieces. When they've prepared it well, it's very nice. Occasionally it isn't prepared well, and it's just so-so cause maybe they threw in too many colorings or it's a bit 'old'.
Koo Li Yuk = pork meat in round balls. Hell I don't know how to explain it properly, but it's tasty

Yo, I'm 23 today (the age I will grow facial hair if the legends are true) 8) Went out last night to celebrate and had a really fun night, including being pushed around in a shopping trolley which happened to be outside the club

My mum got me the Ergo Proxy box set and my dad gave me money and took me for a meal at Oriental Express yesterday. I'm off for a carvery this evening with my mum and grandparents
