You could combine them if you have a BD drive and suitable software.

I don't, so can't really help you with that.

I used to collect DVDs, CDs and vinyl, including a bunch of merchandise, when I was a teenager and during my post-adolescent period. I never had that much money, but I spent almost all my earnings on that stuff. Even when I couldn't afford it, I used to starve myself and, instead of buying food, spend the money on some "Special Edition" CD package instead, as stupid as that was. Still it never really amounted to that of a huge collection - I worked mostly shitty jobs with low income, and I bought a lot of expensive editions of movies and music. So, it was pretty selective - a couple DVDs, CDs and a few vinyls and a book a month, at best. Then, when I began moving around more, I ended up getting annoyed by having to constantly carry all my shit around. I decided to get rid of everything - auction off as much shit as I could, and give the rest away if people even wanted it. I needed the money, too. I had a good year selling all my shit - tour T-shirts, CDs, vinyls, and the Special Edition DVD packages. The DVDs are harder to sell, as that stuff isn't worth anything due to the massive amount of them around. The store people are overloaded with plastic crap they will probably never be able to sell out - shelves filled with tons of movies. DVDs are so cheap, and you can get all those "special editions" for 4-5 Euros each, fill up your entire house with movies you will be having collect dust for your entire lifetime. It kind of freaks me out thinking about it, nowadays. :)

Nowadays I don't buy physical copies of movies, unless it's gifts for other people. When I want to support artists, I usually just donate money directly.

I just purchased a copy of Encyclopedia of Chinese Film which retails around 274.00 (I paid a lot less though). It's a big book and Mark Pollard has a review on Amazon
This academic reference book includes six informative essays, an extensive bibliography, web site addresses, and indexes of titles, names and studios in addition to the hundreds of main entries. At less than 500 pages, this single volume title is hardly comprehensive, yet does provides valuable information on history, various films themselves, general topics, and people within the film industry. Due to the high price, I can only recommend this title to professionals and serious students of Chinese film. I do research for web-based and film distribution projects and I've found the book to be well worth the purchase.
If the book is good to great I'll write a review for it.

The two Guillotine flicks also completes my DD Shaw collection. Though there are a couple I don't have since im not gonna double dip just for English dub.

Oh, and like the moron I am, I actually bought Twelve Gold Medallions twice, one German version which im keeping, and the Taiwanese Deltamac version. That's what happens when you're not paying attention to your spending spree. So if anyone needs this one, let me know. Twelve Gold Medallions, Deltamac, still wrapped in plastic.

RR, can you tell me if the Mandarin 2.0 track on your Well Go (Sword Masters) Death Duel is the original mono? Can't find anything on this release anywhere. Also, is it NTSC progressive? Thx.

Just snagged the HK posters for Crippled Avengers and Invincible Armour as well. I have like 20 HK movie posters now.... and NO place to hang half of them. Plus, framing prices are ridick! Don't really know why I buy em'.

Pretty cool actually. THough I think Crippled Avengers should find a place on the wall somewhere. Nothing better to impress guests.

I buy stuff all the time though I don't know how interesting my BD/DVD purchases are. I'll put some highlights since the last posting:

The Noose Hangs High OOP: An Abbott and Costello I needed. Already watched, fun film though the Universal films (this is not) tend to be the best. The box set from Universal is a must purchases for fans.
The Uninvited: Finally got this Criterion. I have a nice collection of older horror films.
Charlie Chan collection 3: The last set with Warner Oland.

Non-English:
Departures
All About My Mother: the only one I have seen out of this bunch.
Fellini’s Roma
Colour of the Truth
The Orphanage

Colour of the Truth is a decent Wong Jing flick.... it made my upcoming 50 HK faves of the naughts list. My ex.... hmmm, well... fuckbuddy, loved Departures, and it would make her cry every time. Gotta say, it put me right to sleep. But then again, Japanse art films is not really my bag.

Lol... no, not with her... she was cool. Though there were a few in the past where that document would have saved me some hassle.
