I haven't seen many, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I have. What should I watch?

Cheers.

Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, haha.

Oh, and a bit of God of Cookery, and some weird film what I can't remember the name of where Stephen and some other guy are spitting at each other. :dontknow:

I really liked King of Comedy, with Cecilia Cheung. Chow plays an acting-teacher who's also trying to break through as an actor himself. Good movie with a heart.

It's a shame Chow has done so little these last 10 years.

You got that right! such a shame he became a massive star, then practically retired from our screens! trying to break into Hollywood seems to have exhausted him and he still seems to be trying, cannot see it ever happening now.

My tastes may not gel with others (I couldn't stand King of Comedy for example) but would recommend you check out Forbidden City Cop, God of Gamblers 3, and The Magnificent Scoundrels.

I liked the Roswell bit in Forbidden City Cop.

I found GOD OF GAMBLERS II to be dreadful.

Fight Back to School is cool as well. Loved the condom-scene.

Tried to re-watch King of Comedy but couldn't get past the 25 minute mark. Can't stand Karen Mok. And can't stand Cecilia Cheung. Trying to get rid of the dvd now.

Fight Back to School is better, but didn't find it good enough to keep it.

From Beijing With Love is great!

Need to rewatch Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle some day.

God of Gamblers has been on my table since I started uni. Wait, that means it's been on 4 different tables. In 4 addresses. On two continents. Fuckin hell, I need to watch that dvd before it rots...

edit: why are we even discussing God of Gamblers? Is Stephen Chow in it?

Not just me then... although I happen to like both those actresses.

I just didn't find the film funny.

Another one that disappointed me. I tend to like the ones that most people ignore, like The Lucky Guy.

No, he's not. I actually prefer GOG 3 to the Chow Yun-Fat original.

The reason I asked if Keung had seen God of Gamblers is because the spoof: All For the Winner is a much funnier film if you have. For my money the two Chinese Odyssey films together as one "entity" (seeing as it's just one film split into two parts) is the best thing Chow has been in, I've provided a link below to my review.

Ignoring Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer, I've listed the best of Chow's films in order of greatness:

A Chinese Odyssey Part One + Part Two
From Beijing With Love
God Of Cookery, The
All For The Winner ---- Make sure you watch God of Gamblers first!
Out Of The Dark
King Of Comedy
Love On Delivery
Fight Back To School
Fight Back To School 2
Forbidden City Cop
King Of Beggars
Fist Of Fury 1991 Part One
Fist Of Fury 1991 Part Two
God Of Gamblers 2
God Of Gamblers 3

Didn't rate the Chinese Odyssey films, but then I've never been a fan of Jeff Lau's work.

Completely different film to the ones we're talking about Grim, unless you're talking about Jeff Lau?
I generally agree with Mark with regards to Lau's career, but I think those four films he made with Chow are some of the funniest HK comedies of the 90s. Treasure Hunt and Chinese Odyssey 2002 weren't bad as well.
