I got a message in My Ebay (on Ebay UK), according to them that e-mail saying my card was lost (?) was not sent by Ebay and was phishing/spoof e-mail.

Same here, I every few weeks I get an email from "Ebay" telling me that something is wrong and I have to give "them" my credit card number, my social security number, my bank account number and car keys as well...

EDIT: one of the fake ebay emails I've received

"You have received this email because we have strong reason to believe that your eBay account had been recently compromised. In order to prevent any fraudulent activity from occurring we are required to open an investigation into this matter. To speed up this process, you are required to verify your eBay account by following the link below

If your account informations are not updated within the
next 72 hours, then we will assume this account is fraudulent and will be
suspended. We apologize for this inconvenience, but the purpose of this
verification is to ensure that your eBay account has not been fraudulently

We appreciate your support and understanding, as we work together to keep eBay a safe place to trade.

Thank you for your attention on this serious matter. We apologize for
any delay in resolving this situation"

Because companies will never ask you to log in via a direct link, they would ask you to simply visit their website and log in as normal. I get them all the time from "Barclays" and "Barclaycard". I bin them immediately.

Yeah, we've had fake mails from 'e-bay' phishers too.

They just want your details and try to panic you into giving them.

Don't.

Delete the mail immediately.

Did you choose a standard auction or just one is auction only? I think there is an option. I don't use the online form as I use eBay Turbo Lister:
