A glib comment not worthy of you.

Means you know perfectly well why fans would be upset about the passing of their musical hero (I use the word hero advisedly). I've never been one for overstating grief toward public figures when they die - and I'd say that even if it was someone I really respected (let's say Jackie Chan). If Jackie died we'd all be upset - wouldn't we? I wouldn't go into mourning but I post my condolences alongside everyone else as a mark of respect. Because I don't know these people I don't take their deaths to heart, but to simply say "people die all the time" is glib and designed to ellicit an irritable response. Of course people die all the time... does that mean we shouldn't care or pay respects? Yes, the outpouring is over-the-top. Yes, the media coverage is blanket at the expense of all else (more important events). But that gross excess doesn't mean the alternative - ignorance and a 'who gives a fuck' attitude - is any better. I'm not a Jackson fan, as I have already said, but I'm not so callous as to say 'I don't care, so why does anyone else?' Sounds like you're the sort who'd walk up to someone's grave and say 'shit happens!' I don't think you are that person, hence why I said that your remarks were beneath you.

My mum/grandmother didn't seem to really care either, they're of a different generation though and weren't fans, we all like different stuff. But I got slightly annoyed as her manner was like "I don't care, I can't name one thing he has done". She's not a big music person though.
I wasn't even that big a fan myself, but I can certainly see why so many are upset, even if the blanket coverage is rather surreal. Some of his earlier stuff was fantastic, he was an icon and I can certainly name/enjoy many of his songs. My uncle was more of a fan than my mum was.
I watched some of the TOTP2 show last night, thats the Jackson we should remember. For people of my age/therearound, it's a Presley/Lennon moment.

We live in a callous, selfish society whereupon if 'it' doesn't happen to me it's simply not worth bothering about.

That's the way I want it, it is not life, it's the net (unless the net is your life, then your stuffed).

and if you think no one listens to what I post, well it shows you how little you read of what I write and on what sites I post on, and under what usernames.

Which is good as then many have no idea it is even me, and never ever will.

and yup add a  to many more posts, you dont do it enough :D

Poo faced serious peeps can argue about why Jackson is a Music God and why we must all bow down to his feet and say our bit in respect to him. If it is someone you like, you will care a lot more.

If someone like Arnie died tommrow I would be gutted, Jacko passing aint much of anything for me, but obviously he is to many.

WTF! No offence but does your Mum live under a rock? I'm amazed anyone cannot name one thing they know Jackson had done. He was HUGE!

That was what I thought! Especially since Beat It had just been on the radio! :?
Well she said that but then said she like some Jackson 5 stuff in the day (ABC, etc). I guess we just have different tastes.

I saw a bit of the memorial, quite moving. Shaheen (from BGT) was apparently very good, unfortunately I didnt see all the performance, apprently MJ himself requested him to be at his O2 gigs. When Paris (MJ's daughter) said goodbye, that was so sad

I couldn't believe it when I saw that Welsh kid, who was very poor IMO during Britain's Got Talent.

His daughter sounded sincere but the whole Jackson clan thing is dubious. Where is the mother of the other two? Where is Paris's mother? They'd sure as hell not let the biological mothers win control of them. Why are all his kits so white?

You cannot change your DNA, no matter how much Jacko may have wanted to. I think it's likely he isn't the father of any of his kids and they're white for the same reason he was white. He thought himself African American but hated his black skin. Vitalargo doesn't change the texture of your hair.

I agree though. I saw the last 25 minutes and found it moving. The white gloves were a nice tough.

I'm sure she was sincere - whether or not MJ was her real biological dad, to her he WAS her dad and that was what so moving :(
I thought Shaheen was excellent in BGT :)

Jackson wore a wig, so that explains the texture of his hair being different.
I saw the memorial, Brooke Shields, Magic Johnson and Paris stood out as far as 'memorable' goes.

Usher came across as fake, but I always felt he's an idiot so I'm not very objective.

He was a very good artist in his day, but TBH he should have died 15 years orso ago (or at least just 'quit'/retired or dropped out of the public eye), cause these last years have just been 'awkward', to say the least.

Tribute? Or a chance for unscrupulous people to make even more money out of a dead man? You decide.

Really? What 24/7? Are you sure?

I take your point but I for one was certainly willing to give him another chance musically speaking.

It's been reported a few times in the news over the last days/weeks since they found him. It was on CNN again this morning, where they described in what state they found MJ: porcelain-white skin, bursted veins or something, and no hair. They said he might have been wearing a wig ever since his hair caught fire during the taping of a Pepsi commercial, but I'm guessing that's just speculation on their part.

Ow, I would have been willing to give him a chance as well (I wouldn't have bet any money on it being succesfull though), but TBH I stopped caring about what MJ did artistically a long time ago. Like I said, in his day he was a very good popstar/singer/performer, but the last 15-20 years have just be shite.

Ah ha, his hair catching fire might have been the "accident" I was on about and had to have all that plastic surgery stuff.
Even in 1988 his skin looked pretty pale (but not as white as more recently).

His first surgery was circa 1980 when he broke his nose after a fall (apparently he wanted to change his appearence anyways and this was the excuse he needed).

Source? I only knew that he wanted to have them make his nose smaller, because he was made fun of by his father really badly. He needed to breath better anyway and be able to hit higher notes. Well, that's what he said anyway.
