I thought it was funny too... until they say the guy died!
Still, what an idiot.
I hope the woman inside was OK if he fell thru the roof.

I already knew the guy dies (hence the Darwin-award) and I still thought it was kinda funny when I saw it.Markgway wrote:I thought it was funny too... until they say the guy died!

I mean, come on.

The guy may have been a fool but I can't smirk at an incident in which someone dies. It's not a movie, it's real life, and I'm sure the man had family and friends. It's sick frankly that someone put that clip on Youtube for a cheap laugh.

It's really funny, and we don't know that he died.

Re: The funny thread
He did die, and TBH, I do find it funny. Maybe I'm indoctrinated by 30 years of slapstick comedy, but this is slapstick, no matter how 'black' it is.
Ofcourse, it's extremely sad that someone dies and leaves behind a family and loved ones and all that, but the act in itself is just 'stupid' that it makes it kinda funny.
Guy in wheelchair pissed off at missing the elevator, decides he wants to vandalise the lift-door, and breaks through it, and drops down. How is that not funny!?

Re: The funny thread
Something ceases to be funny when the tragic consequences become apparent. You know that the man died and yet you still find it funny. I just can't comprehend your thinking. It's alien to me. Is it OK as long as you don't see the moment of impact where the man is killed? Would you laugh at a child being hit by a car if the driver pulled a 'slapstick' face whilst doing it? It amazes me how insensitive society has become (it's not just this thread or forum - it's widespread) and how 'we' struggle to empathise with the pain and suffering of others (I say struggle, but that may not be the correct term given that it implies some sort of effort). Is this the sad, soulless level humanity has descended to...?

Quite a menu this Chinese restaurant has
("The Chinese character for “dry” can also have a vulgar meaning and is consequently often mistranslated as “fuck”. ")

Re: The funny thread
Finnish news anchor fired for making news more fun....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8tgRIaw2Ac
Very anti-Finnish. Having no sense of humor I mean. Perhaps he will get his job back if 5 million people complain about it.
This should be in the "sad thread" with members' dead grandmothers...

There was some speculation if that was actually the opening for his election campaign (for parliament)... not that he's an official candidate for anything yet, but maybe soon...
Wouldn't be the first time a "celebrity" gets elected to the Finnish parliament. Aside the every year favorites Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck we've had a former wrestling / boxing star, Tony Halme, who gained huge popularity and was indeed elected (being a real person, they couldn't disqualify him). On his first day he told the press "we got a lesbian president in this country" (she's not lesbian actually)...
... but the true Halme classic was when he came came to an official meeting 1 minute late. He was notified about it. He apoligized sincerely. Somewhat suprised about his honest apology, they told him it's alright, it was just one minute. He replied: "No, it's not alright! It was one minute! One minute in the ring with a black man is a very long time!".
He was put on "vacation" when the police found illeagal guns in his house. He was never charged, because he managed to kill himself before that.
What a guy...
