Blood: The Last Vampire R2J vs BD-J

Post by ForMeThisIsHeaven »

Comparing the 2001 DVD release of Blood: The Last Vampire with 2009's Blu-ray. There seems to exist a boxed edition, containing both the Theatrical & Digital cut, plus a Special Features disc spread across 3 volumes. Images seen here are from the standalone reissue, catalog #SVWB-5006. Dreary environments aside, playback via thumb drive matches other "SD" releases, e.g. Valley, Castle, & others. Playback via disc however, with Active Backlight enabled as a major influence, it's an absolute power house, and altogether different beast, due to the natural setting and high level graphics, as well as progressive playthrough, and makes for an extremely special viewing. All that said, Blu-ray's restoration is undeniable, and unlike Kenshin's release thankfully.
