Sleeping Beauty: 50 AE Platinum Edition

Post by grim_tales »

I was going to pick this up one day (or maybe wait for the Blu Ray, dunno?) - but am not sure which DVD to get. For the 2002 (I think) release, the R1 had additional features including a commentary, over the other DVDs (R2, R4 etc).

I have the UK R2 2 disc (the previous one), but the 50th AE features a new transfer and other new features. I guess the R1 will have the original soundtrack and other won't (look at Mary Poppins).

Feature wise they look to be the same, but it doesnt say what soundtracks there are. Looks like one of those titles that will be deleted soon.

this one on blu-ray is the first time it's been released on home video in it's full 2:55:1 aspect ratio.previous editions have been cropped from that.i imagine the new dvd will be as the blu-ray.

Grim - The BD is a three-disc set that includes the film on DVD.

Still you get the film remastered and it saves you upgrading later.

True :)
Do you know if the DVDs contain mono or the original soundtrack?

It was my Dad who bought it.

I might get the R1 (who knows when I'll get BD?) as a general rule, it seemed the R1 Disney PE's contained the original soundtrack (eg Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins) whereas the R2's didn't.

Sleeping Beauty isn't a mono film, it was recorded in stereo.
