Ray Winstone in Sweeney Todd on BBC2 tonigtht
Thought you may be interested in this Brad (can't remember if you saw it). A few years ago at Christmas the BBC did a version of the Sweeney Todd story (non musical), with Ray Winstone in the role. This version takes place in 18th century London. I thought it was very good

The BBFC also put the axe on a film of Dylan Thomas's play The Doctor And The Devils. It was finally filmed in 1985
