Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?
I wasn't expecting these to arrive like 2 days after I had ordered on a Sunday. Must've come from a retailer in my city.

Two from 88
Also finally upgraded my old Hairpin Circus DVD to a BD. One of the best car chase films ever made. I might keep my DVD too, just for the booklet which sadly was not replicated for the BD.

From 88 Films
And Toei's Teruo Ishii Abnormal Love Series DVD Box Set!
This is just a collector's item really. I remember when it came out back in 2005 and sold out before it was even released. I then picked up all the stand alone releases. Now I finally managed to add the box set (with a thick booklet that includes AD Misao Arai interviews about each film) to my collection. Only cost me 5000 yen, and I think I can get most of it back when I sell my stand alone copies. Of course I have half of the films on BD as well (though it's a shame some of HD masters have far worse colours and contrast than then old DVDs, especially Inferno of Torture. That one is one of the visually most beautiful Toei films of all time, and the DVD has the same overall look as the gorgeous 35mm print that I've seen no less three times in Tokyo, in three different theaters).

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?
Terminator 1 4k. To my untrained senses the PQ looks fantastic and Atmos track sounds great. (Will rewatch later with the original sound effects mono track.)
They seem to have worked out the kinks with their AI remastering algorithms (sadly we're stuck with those other Cameron film remasters for the foreseeable future. Aliens, True Lies.).
I think this might be the best mono upgraded sound scape film I've ever heard. (mind you, most other surround remixes date back 15-20+ years. When they were trying to capture mainstream customers. Physical media is a niche market now, so there's less incentive for distributors to even bother with remixes. The audience left is more likely to lean towards being purists.) The usual older film remixes I've experienced recently opt to mostly pump the musical score through other channels, whilst sound effects are grounded in front channels. The Omen 1976 was like this.

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?
Recent pick ups which from a hodge podge of sales and things.
Shout Factory OOP sale on expiring Fox licenses
JB Hi Fi Aus B2GOF sale
Argento's Opera 4k replacement disc with corrected HDR
Ghostbusters 4 steelbook
Thought that I was buying kiwi filmmaker Vincent Ward's Vigil. Got some random indie American horror about Hebrew ghosts or something, IDK.

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?
Not a new pick up, but I'll post about it for completionist's sake:
Terminator 2 4k. I dunno how I feel about this one. It doesn't look awful but even an untrained eye can see that it's been scrubbed clean of grain.
IMO the big crime of this release is that only the TC is in 4k. The extended cuts, which had cool shit like the mirrored chip surgery scene, are only present in 1080p.

Re: What Have You Just Ordered or Received?
Pick ups on Black Friday. I Once Upon a Time in the West. Morricone's theme for Harmonica is So good. Way better than Fields of Gold, IMO.
Wanted the Rocky series on 4k since I started collecting this format in like 2020. I have childhood nostalgia for the one where he retires because of a brain aneurism and beats up the young guy in the streets at the end.
Top of 4k releases wishlist are Fistful of Dynamite and Once Upon a Time in America.
