jesus camp...

Post by Shen »

a camp in america that teachers kids to be "soldiers to god" willing to die in the name of god and america, being "evangelical soldiers"...getting young kids to pray for forgivness, rallying against abortion (granted i dont really agree with abortion but at 6-7yrs old it honeslty shouldnt be a concern of kids) you see kids weeping for forgivness, speaking in tonuges and saying they are willing to sacrafice themselves int he name of god...the "leader" sums it up personally "just like in pakistan etc. these kids learn to die for their faith" (or words to that effect)

heres a little video of the documentary "jesus camp" which investigated the camp that these kids went to and what they were taught...

im all for people having religion, if thats what thye believe fine...however, to indoctrinate children in this way, seems thoroughly wrong. kids are kids they should be given the chance to play with toys and not be concerned with abortion and fighting for their country and shit...the american al-queda

what do you guys think?

Obviously indoctrination like this is just plain bad in each and every way you can interpret the word 'bad'.

I find this kind of stuff incredible, and really shows me what kinda of idiots there are among us...

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

I agree with you Shen. :)
If people want to be religious its up to them. But idoctrination of impressionable children is just plain wong IMO.

This is the trailer for the documentary. Distressing, to say the least. Listening to kids speak about things that people 5 times their age can't decide on, let alone being able to come up with a total conviction of something... there is something inherently wrong with that.

I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but if you're American (or if you aren't American but you know 100%), I'd just like you to clarify something for me. Doesn't the Constitution and/or Bill of Rights (and any other documentation that I'm missing) separate God from the State? Am I right in thinking that there's not meant to be any link between religion and the state? It was designed to be secular, well, except for the money - "In God We Trust" and all that...

Exactly.

It's really scary (but not at completely surprising) this is allowed to even go on period in a country which apparently so against this kind of thing when it's another faith praying. This is wrong in so many ways.

The guys who run/ran the camp should be in jail.

Is the camp still going?

I don't know the details but do know that's very true but when do things like this in reality work this way?

People often twists rules to suit their own gain.

It's a shame British documentaries don't get the funding for theatrical release. There are some excellent ones shown on TV which are as good as the American documentaries.

Many Mid-West Americans are seriously really brainwashed. It's a real shame more of America isn't like the more (mostly) liberal California.

I can't believe this still has no UK release

The R1 DVD is now out. I heard the director got in lots of stick for it.

Did they say when it was getting a UK release? If it's much longer I'll have to pick the R1 up and that's at currently at full price plus I'd prefer to see it in the cinema.

It's not been passed by the BBFC as of yet so I wouldn't hold my breath for any kind of theatrical release. Could go straight to TV at some point?

Funnily enough I was planning to watch my copy too shortly. Good to hear it's been closed. Odd it's yet to get a UK (or European?) release.
