According to HMV's website, the winner of X Factor will do a song called "Thats My Goal" (?)

I thought each winner recorded their own different song? Everyone has different styles so how can it suit everyone?

I'm starting to hate it already because of the title.

It might even be a cover of Collapsed Lung's "Eat my Goal" (you never know).

Andy and Brenda are just playing it safe IMO

So are JS with Bad Day (though its too recent a song), CITW sounds good though. Not sure about the Scissor Sisters track for Shayne.
Each act only has 3 minutes to perform both songs.

Can't believe Chico is doing the Time Warp

Saying that, both his songs have loads of entertainment possibility. Looks like Mark, (Chico's vocal coach) is going the whole whack and doing the stage production of Rocky Horror

3 mins to do 2 songs is ridiculous (thats what JS said) - with 5 acts thats 15 mins actual singing - if the show is an hour than its bound to be full of filler and rubbish

What do you think of the Time Warp, Mark? The song is ripe for entertainment and audience participation BUT its really an ensemble number, which means lots of performers on stage (in other words, the cast of Rocky Horror

) , its not a song Chico can do by himself. Its not exactly kids, but Louis said no gimmicks, and they use gimmicks to disguise the fact he can't sing well. Mind you Richard O Brien and Tim Curry "spoke sang" in the show/film so...

I Feel Good is much better. He sounded pretty good singing that in the run through and knew it well.

The more I think about it the more I'm looking forward to the Time Warp turn, but what puzzles me is how the hell are they going to make the Time Warp a one person song. Will Chico just be singing Riff-Raff's part, and leaving out the other characters' verses, or will he suddenly do the squeaky-voiced Columbia verse with tap dance routine, and Magenta's verse? And the Narrator's bits?

Thoughts on tonights performances:

JOURNEY SOUTH: Thought the 1st song was too "shouty" from them, they redeemed themselves with the 2nd performance (a haunting Candle In The Wind). Very good.
WTF were Sharon's comments about though "Elton never performs that song again"...

Does she feel sad for Marilyn Monroe or Princess Diana?

CHICO - What the?... I thought I Feel Good was the song Chico would play relatively straight but he couldn't resist "Chico-ing" it up, leaping off the stage and chatting to the judges during the interlude, dousing himself with water, running back on, doing the splits and doing the last part on cue (almost).

What was the pecs flashing for though? 10/10 for enthusiam and entertainment

Liked The Time Warp one as well. Great fun also. Again, that suited his speak-singing style to a tee, and interestingly I noticed EVERYONE had backing singers tonight. Chico favoritism? Pah.

BRENDA: Both very good performances, loved the Dionne Warwick one.

SHAYNE: Didnt care for the first song, and I'm fed up with Louis fawning over him "You made Careless Whisper your own" (?!) Bollocks. He (Shayne) is good but not that good.

ANDY: Terrible first song choice, I was always in mind of Fur Q's "Uzi Lover" on The Day Today

2nd one was much much better. Louis's comment was quite funny though - "No-one does Nat King Cole like you".

Indeed. Nat King Cole does it better

Thats not to say Andy wasn't good but if I wanted to hear Nat, I'd buy a Nat King Cole CD.

And why did Chico say in his VT "Its not about women, its about kids" and then at the end of his 1st song bear his chest and thrust his crotch? Like I said entertaining (couldnt help laughing) but that was a bad move, and seemed desperate.

JOURNEY SOUTH: Both performances were low par this week and the choice of songs poor. The first one (Had a Bad Day) wasn't terribly well sung by the brother with the short hair and the lyrics stank. There's a reason why old songs are the best. Candle in the Wind was better done, but didn't work for me. I can't imagine why on earth Simon gave it to them. Sharon was referring to Diana, and whilst I don't share her sentiments on that aspect, I did agree it was only a song Elton John should sing. If this was down to a judges vote I think they might have been in the bottom two.

CHICO: 10/10 for entertainment value. He was the most consistant performer on the night and did exactly what was expected of him. Twice. You can't complain. I rather liked the Time Warp more than I should have; not keen on the James Brown song in any version. Very likeable guy, but it was his time to go.

BRENDA: The first song (All Out of Love) wasn't great, I didn't think it showed Brenda at her best. However, the second song was a powerhouse, and showed why Brenda deserves to win this competition.

SHAYNE: Not keen on The Scissor Sisters either, and Shayne was just copying their version. Blah. He did seem more charismatic though (at least compared to early weeks). The second effort (Carless Whisper) was an improvement, but not as good as it should have been. Shayne is not in the same league as George Michael and his performance of a classy song was soulless.

ANDY: The Phil Collins song isn't bad when Phil Collins sings it, but didn't suit Andy at all. And that's the problem. The only material that does suit him is Nat King Cole and unless he's going to be a nat impersinator I don't see his career going anywhere. Andy has a smooth voice, but his vocals tonight on When I Fall in Love were a little bland.

I agree. It was sad to see Chico leave, but I think it was his time. Considering how Simon roasted him in the 1st auditions I dont think expected in a million years to get anywhere, let alone the final 5. Maybe the James Brown one was a little too OTT and crazy but both were great fun performances full of energy. The X Factor won't be the same without him.

I think Brenda should win, but Shayne WILL win (if that makes sense).

I sort of knew what Sharon meant about CITW, it is an emotional, sad song but JS didnt sing the version with the lyrics about Diana (why would they?), they sang the 1974 original which is about Marilyn Monroe for Pete's sake. The Diana version is the one Elton no longer performs.

He (Chico) was on This Morning today. The interview was pretty funny

Mark (rainbow Beard man) asserted that Chico's impression of him sounded like Robert De Niro, and Chico's impression of Ozzy Osbourne got me laughing too

He was on Radio 1 yesterday though. That was pretty funny also

The guy has taken to interviews like a duck to water.

Chico was recounting a time when The Sun newspaper was running a 'send a pic of your boyfriend in and maybe we'll print it.' promo. Apparently they had a time when on page 7 there was a male pin up. Chico sent his pic in pretending he was a girl, sending her fellas pic. He used his real name, Yousef Slimani.
He received a rejection letter, so then went round to the local paper and said did they want to have him for their page 7 before The Sun printed it! When they asked him his name he told them, and a girl in the office said 'Useless Salami?'
He turned round and said 'Excuse me, my Salami isn't useless!'

The whole point of the story was that the name Chico was chosen for the pic in the local paper with the header 'Chico's Cheeks'

Also, apparently Maria charges £8,000 A NIGHT for a personal appearence, just to sing 4 songs

Bloody hell, she must6 be giving "extras"!

As for Unchained Melody.. boring!

Its' been no1 in the UK four times already, is one of the worlds most covered songs, and has been done by bland karaoke acts like Gareth Gay and Robson and Jerome. We dont need to hear it again.

Excellent choices. I've said for ages Brenda should do an Aretha track and that's one of the best. Without You - Mariah Carey? Dear me, what happened to Nilsson?
