Have Samsung released their Combo Player or maybe LG's Mark 2 Player? Nope and Nope

I'm also unemployed right now, between jobs if you will. I have an interview Monday though and I had another a week ago last Friday (which I didn't get).

I'll be getting a Combo Player with my first pay packet, assuming either Samsung and/or LG get of their asses and release them by them. It's annoying but I'm confident it will be worth the wait. I keep hearing the Samsung is very soon, maybe next month. I'll be well pissed off if I don't own something by the end of the year.

Any talk until then is thinking ahead. It's a good job Blade Runner isn't out until December as I cannot wait to see the Final Cut in HD (I've had the BD on pre-order for yonks).

Oh and the film is a masterpiece so I am happy to buy it again (it's in my top 3), most titles I can wait but not this one.

i'm the opposite Brad-i don't mind still picking up the odd new dvd release that i haven't seen and has no announced hd release-like death proof. but no way would i rebuy amn oldie like tax driver,a sony movie that we know is coming sooner or later to blu-ray.

AxelMusic have a page of HD-DVD'S at £11.82 delivered.not massively cheap but a couple of good titles, Miami Vice unrated & Smokin' Aces combo amongst them.

That's not Miami Vice Unrated, for starters it clearly has an Australian rating and secondly there is no Unrated cut. The DC is exclusive to America. Those cheapos are Australian HD-DVDs which don't have Combos. Combo AFAIK is exclusive to America.

It's a shame as I've been meaning to pick up Miami Vice DC: HD-DVD but AFAIK to get this you have to buy the expensive American Combo. The cheaper UK and Australian discs all have the Theatrical Cut.

EDIT: Interestingly Smokin' Aces Australian HD-DVD does look to be Combo though:

I did but it lies. The Australian HD-DVD is the Theatrical Cut with a clear rating logo on the case. I presume they mean Director's Cut by Unrated which isn't the case. The back cover says the film is 132 minutes (the DC is roughly 140 minutes) and only has the same pitiful extras found on the UK HD-DVD (no commentary):

I would not class any as bargains after what I have been paying latley, just get them off a forum for cheaper, older titles like that you can get for £8, some brand new still. Hate the awful Ausi Logos as well urrgghhh.

Axelmusic do not deserve the cash anyway after the way the handled my orders latley.

if you changed the currency on axelmusic's site to uk pounds they are £10.82 ,don't quite know where you are getting £11.18 from.Miami Vice i just quoted what the website said,the movie doesn't interest me at all,it's not very good and i doubt the director's cut would improve it much.

Try AVFORUMS trade/sale section, I have bought a lot there lately for very cheap, last few I got were Clerks 2 and Serenity both for £18.

Even DVDFORUMS has the odd bargain (not too many). But you would have to check regulary, as the best prices go instantly, or they are older titles that everyone has.

Even Movietyme has some HD DVD's for £9.99 if you look at the right times, them prices with vouchers make them cheapest for brand new HD DVD's at well under £10. But again you have to look at the right times and have vouchers ready to use, they had Road Warrior and Blood Diamond both £9.99 each last wek, cheap as chips really.

Axelmusic I would not call fantastic thats for sure, ordered only a hand full from them over the years, had problems with a few.
Latley I ordered Heroes HDDVD a month early, they did not ship early, they did not ship on release, they did not ship a month after release!

they did not get stock, so I had to cancel. Pointless even pre ordering at all.

The trouble with that subforum is it moves so quickly it's impossible to keep a track of.

Sadly they only have a few bargains, there vouchers are only ever 50p though and expire in a few days.

I told them once it's annoying I always get vouchers AFTER I've just bought something (iffy if you ask me) and they promptly rather rudely told me they've removed me from the voucher list. Thanks.

Honestly I do not look for the BR deals (yet)

but there are many on forums I notice once in a while, some on Movietyme for instance well under £10, seems some BR discs go lower than HD DVD's ever do

But even Movietyme while they do have deals, many they do not tell you about openly and you will never find them with a search.

For instace, this film I found and bookmarked for £9.99

So its tricky, but worth looking deep and keeping your eyes peeled and you can get plenty for under £10

I try not to pay over £10 ever at the moment, its working so far tahst for sure

but I have always been a penny pincher and 5 minutes spent looking can get you a few quid cheaper I find.

Also Movietyme vouchers are odd, I get plenty of them and wayy more than 50p

I have had one for £5, £3 and a few £1 onnes latley, all since I ordered my HD player from them, may mean you get upgraded if you spend more? not sure. I ordered Heroes Season 1 from them and got a £3 voucher on that set for buying it, which was nice.

But even 50p off a £10 dvd is good to me

I had a look through that AV Forums subforum, going back 5 pages (7 days worth) and sadly the only title under £10 was that MI3 one (the film sucks). I was only concentrating on titles for £10 or less. Most were asking silly money.

Does DVD Forums now have a proper HD Trade/Sale section or is it lumped in with DVDs? Thanks

Me too, but I'd stretch to £13 and £16 for a HD-Combo. There's no way I'd pay £15 for a normal HD Disc or £18-20 for a HD-DVD Combo. Those are rip off prices.

The av and dvd Forums now have seperate secions fior HD trades and sales

Most titles have silly prices (as they do not want to sell, only trade and rules say you have to state price) but every few days ones under £10 will pop up, but most will go quickly. But if I see a film I want, I always offer well below the stated price, always worth a try

worst they say is no, but most meet you halfway I find, or acept your offer. I fidn a good price once a wekk, which is fine as if there were bargains every day I would have no cash left

MI3 for instace is an amazing deal, the HD DVD version brand new is wayyyy more than that everywhere (around £16) so its half price, I only bought it a few weeks back for £9, so I am ok, but the HD DVD is amazing looking and sounding and is very impresive having nearly all extras in HD unlike most cheaper made HD DVD's (if you like the film).

i've had a few over at AV Forums before they banned me,nothing for £8 though

i remember getting sleepy hollow & red dragon for a tenner each. i got a £3 movietyme voucher recently,used it on an order but still got charged full wack

as for axel's prices,i still say the smokin aces combo is a bargain. would be a blind buy for me though.

You were banned! crikey. AVforums seemed to have changed a lot of rules latley mind you, but prieces are getting lower and lower on many forums, hope they keep going down.

Email Movietyme if you have used your £3 voucher, they will give you the cash back I am sure. Beats the point of a coucher if they do it wrong like that.

Smokin Aces, blind buying that will be nasty, the films not the best

I am not buying that on HD DVD until its £5, so a long wait for me then.

i suppose i should mail them. avforums banned me because they claimed i had a duplicate account,which i didn't, my son who is the same name as me is also registered there and they must've noticed the same ip address.i did email them and explained but never got a response.
