got back from my first film studies class.... and ARGH stupid little fucking teeny fucking stupid ass movies...of all the movies they chose to look at, do they choose the european movies? the asian movies? drama? romance? thriller? action? do they fuck we have to study "teen movies" ....yay...such a fun time whatching all those nihilistic and stupid films! ffs do they have no idea that there is a whole world of movies outside of hollywood?! the only sort of half decent thing comes when we study horror movies nearer the end of the first half of the year....oh joy... why cant they just suprise us for once and study the european movies or the asian movies and stuff like that . they'd be in for a whole new experience in movies....

but ARGH TEEN MOVIES!!!! i suppose i could just write about their stupidity and nihilism and pointlessness other than for cheap laughs

dont get me wrong *some* are funny but most are stupid to the point that they become pointles and just boring...

on top of that my tutor is an asshole...yeah one lesson it took to find out that...

Whoa, are you studing teen movies as a whole, like the genre from the 80's or recent teen movies?
One of the first movies we looked at in Film Studies was The Matrix I must say I was surprised about that but Matrix is a great MOVIE.
We also looked at European cinema, British (films like Millions Like Us, Passport To Pimlico etc) which are actually very good, and 2 of my favourite Asian movies, A Chinese Ghost Story (I had the MIHK VHS at the time) and Chungking Express.

i dunno yet but it just best not be thse stupid pointless ones (are there ones with a point?) we get to study horror, but god knows what and we have to study audicences and producers (why not directors?!) and a text like the original novel of a movie or something. was going to be wickerman but they removed that so i dunno now. i dunno what we do next year, actually i dont think i will be thre next year, im just trying to fill upsome grades for university...but i think the 2nd year is a brief look at german films...which i wouldnt mind at all, wish they'd switch it round and give us german movies and teen movis next year!

but just...teen movies....i mean teen movies! of all the things to choose from why teen movies?!

im really really hoping we atleast get to study some "foriegn" films, or even just some half decent hollywood films. i am NOT looking forward to these next few months, really not...

on a side note i picked up A Chinese Ghost Story today for £3 gonna watch it later

We studied Wicker Man in the 2nd year I think. I grew to love that movie
I'm sure we did Audiences and Producers as well, I also did a piece for my coursework arguing Jackie could be called an auteur (artist).

yeah our coursework is on the teen movies, horror and then we have to create a short film from one of the two genres..not sure about that last part, since we have to work with groups and i dont do so well with people, i'd rather just be on my own, like always lol.

i am really hoping the teacher is diverse enough to atleast consider influences in the hollywood movies, alot of hollywood horror is influenced by the asian movies. or are just total remakes lol. but yeah i mean the teacher seems like a total dick. i got bollocked for being late, she wouldnt even let me explain, that i waited half hour for a bus that missed, and rather than taking me half hour to get to college it took me an hour and a half (i left the house at 7:45, i got to college at 9:20)...i wasnt impressed lol. but then when i told her i was disabled, she became really really nice to me, that pissed me off more than the bollocking, too fake, and i hate that, physically disabled people arent mentally retarded so why do people treat me like i am?! yeah we just really didnt get on lol...looking forward-ish to meeting our 2nd tutor some polish guy, see how he turns out...hope hes cool lol....

I have to say I was cool with both my film tutors, they were great, they were certainly the "look beyond Hollywood" sort. I remember looking at stuff like The Idiots, Crash (the Crononberg one) and Battle Royale for shocking cinema.

I had to 'lecture' some kids at school today about their upcoming internships...
Wasnt anything special TBH. A nice distraction from my assignment that I am doing at school now...

Ow... and on my way home, in the train, it was just loaded with people... and I sat across a guy and a girl...(not together those two), and the guy started talking on his cell phon real loud. I mean REAL loud... so I just looked at the girl with a 'WTF is that guy thinking!?' face, and she laughed and he left to talk a bit further away so me and the girl had some fun over it...
When she left the train in Amsterdam she smiled and said goodbye...
She was gorgeous btw... we had eyecontact lots of times during the trainride, in a pleasant kinda way.

Actually, the whole day went pretty well, girl-wise. Everyone was real nice to me, so it was a pretty good day (even though I walked straight into a glass door at one point during the day... )

Look at it this way, Shen, if you don't normally watch "teen movies" this course has already broadened your horizons.

Also it depends which ones they show. If you get The Breakfast Club or early John Hughes you've lucked out.

I did a film/video course in College: it was crap. They usually are unless you go to a dedicated school. You just have to grin and bear it to get the pass marks. But if you think you're gonna learn anything, well, you won't. If you wanna learn, stay home and watch a dozen choice DVDs instead, tsarting with A Chinese Ghost Story.

And Grim, I'd much rather watch Passport to Pimlico than pish like The Matrix. 8)

Fair enough, the first Matrix was great though, it (the series) turned to pish after that.
We did watch The 400 Blows (classic). Found Jules et Jim a bit dull though.

I seem to be in the minority with my opinion of the Matrix films, but there you go

Well, I like all three, especially Reloaded. Just so very different in terms of the ideas that are posited to any other film I've ever seen.
Plus, the Burly Brawl is cool. 8)

The Matrix was merely average; only the final third is watchable really.

The second film, whichever one that is, was boring tosh.

I have no intention of viewing the third. Life is too short.

i havent seen the matrix yet....i did pick up the first dvd the other day becuase i wanted to check it out and itw as £2:99 in hmv lol. but i think ACGS is higher on the list to watch

have my second film studies class tomorrow, different teacher...yan something....i dunno his last name, well i do but its too hard to pronounce or remember how to spell he's polish, and hopefully cool...

did have my first philosophy class today, it was interesting ish, since its the first it was more introductions (god i hate them) and a little on Epistemology (the theory of knowledge) the tutor is ok...but tbh for a philosophy teacher hes pretty out of touch not hearing of modern philosophers like Krishnamurti, Karl Jung, David Bohm etc when many of their ideas relate well to Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descantes etc. so thats a little crappy but maybe the student can do a little educating of the teacher i already told him of the book im reading nad he's lending it after i finished it lol. but should be cool Descantes looks good. lol
