Good point that does look nifty.

I'm on the fence whether it will hold up well against a proper PVR (it has stiff competition from the likes of Humax and Topfield) but it is supposed to be Freeview Playback compatible so in theory it should be decent. The PS3 has the danger of being an all-in-one box but master of nothing.

PS3's use 2.5" hard disk? That's unusual.

the ps3 is definitely the only blu-ray player so far that seems to be glitch free for all discs. the newer fox titles were unplayable on samsungs without a firmware upgrade that took a while coming.

Do "all" Fox discs work fine in the PS3?

I guess the PS3 has so much hardware in it it can handle them all. I still find it odd Sony didn't get their standalone BD Players right.

It appears so, and it's so easily updated as well. It's not even possible to update other players to profile 1.1 as far as I'm aware!

The rest I guess you're saying the PS3 is easy to update to Profile 1.1 but other standalone players it is not, right?

And yeah, other players can get updates for disc incompatibilities, but I don't THINK they can be updated to 1.1. I'm not sure though.

Correct. It is likely they cannot as they don't have the hardware in them.

Then again the Samsung Combo (which is Profile 1.1 compliant) only has 128Mb of Flash memory (not to be confused with it's RAM) which is below the spec. of Profile 1.1 which negates 256Mb of Flash memory.

In other words the spec it seems can be bent. According to the AVS Forum all this means is stored BD-Java data (such as web stuff) will need to be cleared sooner. It should still work just fine.

p.s - Thanks for the info on Fox discs.

Thanks Salty.

Phew! -

"I KNOW for a fact that that scene is in the film. I also know that WB has made no such mandate and that Chris [Nolan] is honest when saying that he will not change what was intended with The Joker."

Changing the film would be the wrong thing to do and would disrespect Heath Ledger as an actor

This is supposedly what Two-Face is going to look like:

I dont really like it when they just throw multiple enemies into one story.

I'd rather have 1 big story against 1 foe, instead of the focus shifting between different enemies and crimes etc.

It's not going to be about 2 enemies, it's just the Joker. Harvey Dent becomes Two-Face sometime in the film, possibly the end, and he'd then be the enemy in the third film if they make one.

Me too. It always works much better that way.

When they have to many villains their is never enough screen time given to them.

That makes sense :P

Ah well... dont know how I feel about the movie yet.
I doubt we will get honest reviews about Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. No one's gonna write that he panned it, are they!?

We will :D

I have a feeling he won't pan though. He was a decent actor and Chris Nolan is a decent director. I'd be very surprised if it turns out, it sucks.

Reportedly Ledger went to some pretty extreme measures with his method acting techniques.

That's pretty freaky. In the trailer his performance looks amazing anyway so hopefully it wasn't all for nothing.

Maybe playing a psycho when you're mentally ill, wasn't such a good idea.

Still I do hope it's a great performance, it would give him the final justice he deserves.
