Some kick ass advertising

"Here's yet another entry in the long list of methods used to promote movies. To call attention to the DVD release of Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, Amsterdam agency New Message has placed a bunch of bloody, severed arms in front of movie theaters throughout the Netherlands. We're thinking those arms aren't going to be on the ground very long as people pick them up and take them home to freak their friends out with later."

Well, I rented Death Proof, since I've liked previous Tarantino films. Can't say the same about this one, though. Vanessa Ferlito has a face that looks like it was hit by a mack truck. Of course, if I were a guy, maybe I wouldn't have noticed her face. Whatever. I turned it off after the severed leg hit the road. Oops, is that a spoiler? Nah, considering the advertising for this film, I don't think so.

I thought Vanessa Ferlito had just the sort of face to suit the film. It wouldn't have worked if she was drop dead gorgeous.

You turned it off half way through? Many people consider the second half way, way better. It changes loads in the second half, it's almost two movies. I myself liked all of it.

Hey it got better after that I thought, you missed what everyone was saying was the best bit of the film :) the end.

Vanessa has always had an odd face, unusual is the word :D

Check out the UK cover art, it's much better than the USA one:

The 2 Disc DVD is due out next month and even has a "Reversible DVD Sleeve". Even if it has the stupid "The fifth film by Quentin Tarantino".

Doesn't look like the original cut to me, they're both the extended versions!

Yup its not that expensive, maybe £35 quid. So its not like your getting ripped off to bad. With vouchers and links it could be £30 at Yesasia and customs free.

But its not HD so I aint interested sadly :( for that kind of cash.

WOW! That's some DVD set.

I'd be happy for a 2 Disc Death Proof version on HD of either the UK or USA DVD. I don't need all those extras and certainly don't need the "Grindhouse" experience.

The films made 10p at the box office, i'd imagine there's an awful lot of people out there who couldn't give a shit about this release! :D

I'd argue that you DO need the Grindhouse experience. It's quite an experience belive me - and sadly an experiment not likely to be repeated

I think it depends on in which form you originally saw the film(s). I've only seen them separately, so, to me the Grindhouse version would be just two normal movies that I've already seen edited together (with trailers in the middle). And of course shorter versions of the films. Planet Terror would probably benefit from some shortening, but I don't want to miss any Death Proof footage.

But if you originally saw the GH cut, or haven't seen the film(s) at all, then it would be a very different situation.
