Do the other regions not have the original tracks for Animatrix Eva? Interesting :)
I havent seen any of them apart from Final Flight of the Osiris, would be interesting to see them in Japanese.

Hell yes. That remaster from the ultimate boxset looks lovely. Warner are really cheating themselves out of alot of cash by not releasing it separately, since there's alot of people who thought the sequels were rubbish.
Agreed, I am one of those people.

I can't think why they've not updated the separate releases. Many are stilling buying the older DVDs if they want separate releases that's stupid.

The Matrix Reloaded car chase is awesome but otherwise really messy and Revolutions is just one long gun battle, seen it all before. Well apart from the Neo vs. Mr Smith fight which was cool but so stupidly confusing. The thing is if they had released 1 film and cut out all the crud it would've been awesome I'm really sure of this.

The Matrix as a single film worked really well but with all that extra detail The Wachowski's got illusions of grandeur (like Lucas!).

I've seen Reloaded twice and it was better on the second viewing but still messy. The Matrix works perfectly as a standalone feature.

It's exactly the same problem Kill Bill had. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 was mostly awesome but Vol. 2 was mostly a mess. If they'd considered Vol. 2 down and fitted it on the end of Vol. 2 at say a 2 hour feature it would've been perfect. I only own Vol. 1 of that also.l

Geez, yes. No offense Grim, but why you couldn't look it up on DVDcompare and see for yourself I don't know.

I laughed so hard during that sequence, people in the theatre must've thought I was strange. It looked just like a fucking Dragonball Z battle.

Totally. The hardcore fans are just fucking stoners who think the "trilogy" is one grand philosophical epic with deep meaning which isn't actually there. One day they'll wake up (after they've been to rehab) and realise what the rest of us knew all along. Throwing in random bible and Greek/Norse references and high school level philosophy is hardly anything deep.
The Matrix works perfectly as a standalone feature.
I totally agree.

I actually prefered Vol.2, it was his tribute to Sergio Leone films and the like. I don't own either, I'm still waiting for the promised uber-SEs of both films. Where are they Quentin?

To be fair I assumed the same. Your post says you want the R1 because of the Japanese which strongly implies the other regions don't have it.

I'd get a Vol. 1 SE which is unlikely to happen but most of the footage in Vol. 2 was awful so I'm not getting a Deluxe Edition if it comes.

When Uma brings herself back from the dead I as so pissed off. WTF! That isn't funny and just looked really stupid. One step to far.

Kill Bill V.2 was a below average bore; V.1 wasn't great, but was at least entertaining in an exploitation-writ-large sort of way.

The Matrix was fair, but overrated; Reloaded was pants. I never bothered with Revolutions as I heard it was even worse than Reloaded.

That's a hard one. The action is definitely better in Reloaded (there is virtually no Bullet time in Revolutions) but as a film overall Revolutions is probably better.

That dance sequence in Reloaded is such a mess, what were they thinking?

by grim_tales
Yeah, that sequence goes on far too long, what's the point?
I loved The Matrix which was outstanding and quite liked Reloaded, however placed against the awesome first film "good" seemed like "poor", Revolutions was rubbish IMO, very dull with not a very good story.
The Neo/Smiths fight in Reloaded was hilarious

Thanks Eva/Brad :)

All the well staged action sequences in the world can't make up for an utterly dire plot.

EDIT: What am I saying? Alot of those HK films which we love have rubbish plots and great action sequences. Still, I'd rather have dental surgery without the anaesthetic than sit through Reshitted and Revolting again.

Brokeback Mountain UK R2 £10.95 -

http://www.filmnight.com/products/11074 ... k-Mountain

I'd probably get the HK R3 2 Disc now (DTS + One extra Chinese only extra)

Nightwatch UK R2 £9.95 -

http://www.filmnight.com/products/108787/Night-Watch

I read over at The DVD Forums both won't stay at that price for very long.

I agree with Romero. It looks good from the trailer but it's completely misleading. I wasn't overly fond of this movie but I'm willing to give it another go.

I'm hearing from all but a handful it's pretty rubbish. On forums and Mark Kermode (the only critic I pay attention to) didn't much like it either.

It's a decent DVD and a decent price but I'll pass for now.

Mark Kermode  Now I have lost any respect for you, Mark Kermode is pure scum, one of the bigest wankers anywhere who reviews films.

Do you hate Kim Newman too? No one (except maybe Tom, who has similar "tastes" - as in likes shit films) has any respect for you either.

:D . I wouldn't go that far though.

Each to his own. At least you know Kermode isn't biased in what he says and is lots of fun to listen to and very passionate about film too. Of course I don't always agree but like I said he's good fun to listen to.

He manages to make a 20 minute Radio 5 Film segment always last 30-40 minutes with his waffling :D

Name me a film critic you do like?

To Romero, film critics are scum of the Earth. Just as evil as terrorists, child molestors and rapists. He would much rather have his gonads ran over by a 4x4 than trust one of these guys.

How accurate am I Romero?

I think Kermode is one of the better critics, and Kim Newman now that he's been mentioned.

Of course, I don't always agree. But they're worth reading regardless.

Not biased! crikey you listen to someone very different from me, he is appauling (just read his shit about Silent Hill! not biased my arse) :D still yes each to their own.

Personally I dont like any critic at all, why would I want to? I hate them all and detest the whole mentality they give out and the power they have at their fingertips, being able to sway people from seeing a film even if that stupid person has looked forward to seeing a film for months, one word from a high and mightly critic and hey presto they dont see it  thats sad and ignorant of the viewers.

The only person I listen to ever, is me, why anyone goes to someone else for permission to see a film is always beyond me. As thats what it boils down to.

Romero just because you disagree with someone and they don't like a film that doesn't immediately mean they're biased. Kermode disliked Silent Hill that's all there is to it.

He's very correct saying Computer Games have a plot but no narrative so therefore really don't lend themselves well to film. I disagree and think there has been some better examples:

Mortal Kombat
Tomb Raider 1 & 2

But that's only when you compare the competition is mostly rubbish.
power they have at their fingertips, being able to sway people from seeing a film even if that stupid person has looked forward to seeing a film for months, one word from a high and mightly critic and hey presto they dont see it
How remotely is that the film critics fault? They're just giving their opinion like you do. They just get paid to do it, whose the fool now? :D

I listen to critics like I do DVD forum members. It gives me an idea if it's worth paying £6 to see it at the cinema. Trailers are incredibly biased and are designed to be so you can't rely on those to tell you if a film is going to be any good or not.

Besides far more people get swayed by said trailer than a film critic. It's the minority who sit down to read/listen to what they have to say.

I thought that Tomb Raider 2 was shit.
