i've been to my works party and it was ok. Bradavon you contradict yourself,yesterday you were defending the pisstake of £469 for a blu-ray player by saying you only buy top kit now you are whinging over disc prices. personally i don't know why you are buying ANY discs when you can't play them

it's like buying a jar of coffee but having no access to hot water 8)

Fair point. I consider them to be very different though. As hardware is a "one off" cost I think of it differently.

Whose winging? Romero just said Timecop wasn't expensive anywhere and I said it would be nice if e-tailors had bargain sales like they do for CDs, DVDs and Games. No winging, guvner.

. I've wanted to be able to play HD for about a year now. A few discs (7 in all, with 3 on order) in a year isn't much, it helps temper my HD urges until I can finally play them

That and by February (on the outside) at the latest I should finally own a HD Player, not long now. When I see a super deal like a £7 HD Disc I want I'll pick it up. I'm only looking at titles I'd buy soon after getting an HD Player anyway. Hell some even buy Laser discs because they look nice, without ever owning a Player.

I can play 4 out of the 7 discs I own, they're Combos.

My point was it's a lot more than £10

. You implied £17 was a perfectly normal price to pay for one movie.

i remember buying Tomorrow Never Dies on region 1 dvd at a london movie mart before having a player.it pissed me off so much i bought a region free pioneer at £450 3 days later. you need to look at things from my perspective,i was heavily into laserdisc and would happily pay £20-£30 for a disc. at 1996 prices that's probably nearer £40 a pop. So to me a Tenner for a HD disc is incredible value

sorry Brad that's bollocks.i said £12-£17 is the going rate for hd discs. I never Once said £17 was cheap which is what you reckon i said.i'll reitertate i've paid as much as £20 for a single Hi-Def disc but i never once said it was cheap.

It annoys me too but it's only a handful. I try not to look.

I paid £28 for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon R3 shortly after it was released and way before the UK DVD was released. Thankfully to this day it's still the definitive version. Something that won't change until Sony get off their arse and release the BD. Which will probably use the fucked up English subs though

Hell price means little if I want the dvd, I paid £20 for Resident Evil apocalypse Extended Cut on German HD DVD the most I have paid so far. Theres just not that many films I want to bother paying much for, if there was I would own loads, but so far very little excites me. Trying to hold back buying tonnes as well helps, esspecially if I have seen the film in cinema, I can always wait 6 months or more to see it again easy

I've just ordered a copy.

They must have more than one as it's still listed at that price. I've not been able to find out what "Used - Very Good" means other than it will definitely have the cover, case and disc. Hopefully as it's an HD Disc the original owner would've kept it in better condition, it makes sense as HD hasn't yet met the masses.

This arrived today and I've found out what they mean by "Used - Very Good" a broken place holder for Disc 2 and even worse Disc 2 completely missing.

I've sent them a stern e-mail asking for Disc 2 plus a new case or a Full Refund :shock:

They've replied back to say they'll see if they can send me Disc 2 (presuming they have it, it's second hand) but blamed the broken case on postage. It's the bloody spindle inside the case.

Bollocks to postage, if it was postage the outside of the case would have to be broken too. That and the broken bits of red plastic would've fallen out of the jiffy bag when I opened it.

I've asked for a refund. I said I don't want Disc 2 without a new case too. I even asked for a new case and I can swap the cover paper over. It doesn't have to be another case of the actual product. They cannot do that either.

I wasn't expecting it to look brand new but was expecting the full product and definitely not in a faulty manner.

My wife loves Harry Potter. got her this for xmas and it arrived yesterday. a brand new CEX opened near me this week and they have a decent selection of hd-dvds/blu-rays for £12-£14 each. tempted to buy a couple more HP discs at £8.97 as they give £13 credit for it

Is this any good? The first one is excellent.

Cube 1: Signature Series is also £6.86 (to the UK) at DVD Pacific.

Make sure you get the Signature Series version. The old DVD is non-anamorphic, as are the UK R2 and R4. There is also a OOP 2 Disc French SE (£20 at Amazon.fr Market place) and also a OOP Korean 2 Disc SE.

Lastly it's also available in Holland and Japan with DTS, but again the Japanese DVD is also OOP.
