In the beginning... sure they made mistakes (some big ones) but you could at least see they were trying (generally speaking).

That's just so you can ogle a 15-year-old Katherine Heigl's ass in a tight bikini.

Mei Ah remaster had a decent print but was plagued with frequent combing which I found distracting when viewed on my set. I was more than happy to upgrade to the K&R BD considering the recent DD release was such a poor effort.

Poor is being kind.

The Black Mask Mei Ah Remaster got the chop during my last eBay sale. I never got around to seeing it but suspect I'm not missing much.

The mailman dropped off Crime Story and Hitman today. Being recent films, both fared quite well when it came to PQ. Audio is your standard FS 7.1 remix, neither of which featured distracting new foley effects or synch issues. Unlike Iron Monkey and Operation Condor, Crime Story features the older English translation found on Media Asia and DD's dvds. Hitman's subtitles are exactly the same ones found on my old Tai Seng VHS. Extras for Crime Story include a Kirk Wong interview w/o subs and a trailer while Hitman features two short featurettes.

Thanks for the info. I found Hitman rather lame, not worth keeping.

In your opinion Ricky, is the Iron Monkey BD worth upgrading? The HKL DVDs are excellent.

So has anyone checked the Japanese Fortune Star BD's. Any better than the HK editions?

The Japanese edition would be even more expensive.
Confusingly I just googled "A Better Tomorrow HK Blu Ray" and got details about a Korean remake (same title).

I meant in general. Police Story, Once Upon a Time in China, Bruce Lee films etc. I couldn't have been referring to ABT even if it was out in HK. Because it's not out in Japan... ;)

Maybe eventually BD editions will come here (or we have to wait for HK BDs).

Honestly it's not really worth the upgrade since the HKL PE was so definitive.

At least they did this, instead of the usual and release them anyway.
