R2UK: Ghost in the Shell 1&2 boxset - only wanted the R2UK GITS2 2-discer w/ Japanese DTS but opted for the boxset since it was only £1 more than the GITS2 2-discer individually.

The GITS2 SE is lovely (great native-PAL progressive transfer + DTS track), but R2UK of GITS1 is fucking awful - Terrible NTSC-PAL transfer + subs WITH NO BLACK OUTLINE which are thus hard to read at times and Japanese 2.0 Stereo only; I can't wait to upgrade to the lovely R4 SE.

I sold my copy just a few days ago. Gonna get the R4, too (despite the yellow subs :x )

Received Naked Pursuit (R1)

Why not get the R1 special edition, isn't that the best version available currently? Here is a link to it: http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/3-/ ... oduct.html

This is why:
Soundtracks:
Japanese DTS-ES 6.1
English DTS-ES 6.1
Japanese Dolby Digital EX 5.1
English Dolby Digital EX 5.1
French Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
German Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Italian Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo

That's got to affect on quality, right?

That's one of the reasons I'm getting the R4. Native-PAL transfer + ONLY Japanese DTS 5.1, Japanese DD5.1 and English DD5.1.

The other reason is price - R4 SE = $20NZD, R1 SE = ~$35NZD.

Very nice of them. Marking something as a gift normally bypasses Customs charges.

That's cool then, though it wasn't really needed as they were under £18 :)

Yeah that Ninja Gaiden statue is sweet as hell. I was planning on buying it from play (30 pounds), but they dont deliver gadgets and toys to outside the UK. Bastards.

£30?! Damnit! I've just payed £34.99 for one from a shop on E-Bay!

The stupid thing is I looked up "Kotobukiya" on Play thinking that it would list all of their Kotobukiya-made figures. The search returned lots of Star Wars figures but no Ninja Gaiden models.

I just figured they didn't have any from Ninja Gaiden & that the Star Wars ones would be more popular. I didn't even bother searching for "Ryu Hayabusa" on Play.

I never thought any more of it & searched for the figure on other online stores but they were all selling it for between £40 and £50 so I figured £34.99 was a decent price.

Ah well, I'll just have to chalk it up to bad luck...

This morning I received my Ninja Gaiden model from E-Bay. That was quick, considering it was only posted yesterday in 2nd class! I'm very pleased with it - its very detailed & looks class in my bedroom next to my Terminator & Spider-Man Headknockers!

Image

On a slightly more annoying note, I also received Area 51 (XBox game) from Tesco today, but its a right mess! It was not a sealed copy & it has some sort of marks on the disc surface. Needless to say its going back for either a sealed copy or a refund!

Hey,

I opened up the Star Wars DVDs today [Comic Book Guy]AARGH! No longer collector's items![/Comic Book Guy] to check everything was there. I like the art on the booklet/insert, I'm sure that IS the original poster art.
When I get Jedi though I start watching them at some point :)

Next time you're watching Jedi keep in mind that from the instant the Death Star assault begins, all Admiral Ackbar wants to do is leave.

The only one I haven't seen (any version of) is Empire. Seen Star Wars (1997 SE) and Jedi (1997 SE).

Empire is the best, you'll be in for a treat.

Why didn't you watch any Star Wars films as a child? Did your parents hate you and not let you watch it when it was on TV?

:D Dunno, it just passed me by I guess.
The first film I remember seeing (at the cinema) was Honey, I Shrunk The Kids in 1989. Great fun :)

Hey,

Recieeved today:

NARC R1
Star Wars: Return of the Jedi R4
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh R4
Drunken Monkey R2 (WOW rentals)

On the back of the Pooh disc it says "Full Frame" (Its supposed to be full frame I'm sure, that was how it was released in 1977) but it also says "16:9 transfer".
Huh? So which is it?
