Anybody have The Hidden Fortress ? (Criterion, preferably).
I'd like to compare it to my new R2FR (which is said to be quite soft and contrast-boosted).

What PowerDVD settings should i use by the way to capture it?

Player -> Advanced -> Snapshot -> Capture to clipboard.
Custom size: 720x404 for 16/9.
720x540 for 4/3.
Video -> Advanced -> Color profile : original.
+ deactivate all forms of deinterlacing.
This way, the settings will be as neutral as possible.
-Grab your shots, paste them in any photo editing program and save to jpg.
-Upload.

Can anyone do a comparison of The Wild Bunch (R1 2 disc SE v R2 disc SE v Old DC Flipper) please?
Do the R1 SE/R2 SE look the same? I watcxhed the old flipper release the other day, it wasn't too bad (it was an early DVD) but in some places there were lines down the screen and the picture is soft.
For £7.99 or less I'd get the SE.

Maybe I should buy the R2 SE then. I can't imagine the R2/R1's looking that different, they use the same master no? They certainly look better than the old release.

I thought the R1 image wasn't that good, from screencaps I've seen on the net, which is why I'd like to see how the R2 looks.

When posting caps that you've uploaded for someone else's comparison, can we please post just the raw URL's rather than using IMG tags? The original thread starter can then edit the initial post (the comparison) and add your uploaded links using IMG tags.

Agreed. It also makes it easier to compare side by side as you can open each image in a new window.

TBH Grim it's a no brainer. The flipper is a mess.

I agree about the flipper Brad but I mean more of a comparison between the R1 (SE) and R2 (SE). According to Mark the R1 (SE) looks soft.

Many Edko dvds are PAL-sourced NTSC discs.
Both cuts of Hero are, so is House of Flying Daggers.

How come they look really good yet when Tartan do it the other way they cock it right up then?
Do they used Mainland Chinese DVDs?
