Man, that pic is seriously disturbing. I thought it was Ric Meyers at first.

I have never been to Japan myself, but the people I know who have, say it's the biggest culture shock of their lives. And one girl has travelled through the dark heart of Africa and fucking Papua New Guinea. As westernized as it seems from afar, I think it's all the little things.... like for an example old dudes in schoolgirl outfits on the subway.

First time I came to Japan (in 2006) I had zero, absolutely zero culture shock. I felt more home than I had ever felt at home.

What does that tell about me?

The Westernization of Japan is somewhat a misunderstanding. You see Western style behaviour in Japanese ads, music, fashion, movies - industries, that sell fantasies. There's a lot of Western focus on the youth as well - the official rebels of any society. They hardly stand for the majority, even less so for core values. Japan is still very much Japan, despite uneducated Western observers sometimes claiming otherwise.

Looks like that thread at KFC has been closed.
Can't say I'm surprised. I'm amazed it was allowed to run this long.
I'm seriously done with KFC but will close with brief further comment.

1. Multiple times it has been stated that my ban was/is a private matter and should be dealt with privately. I do not have Teako's e-mail address to ask for clarification. Teako has mine. Teako has NOT contacted once in the seven weeks since my ban. Even if I were willing to resolve this matter privately it's not currently a possibility.

2. I still don't actually know why I was banned. I have only been able to speculate on what I believe happened. Teako has never spoken on the matter, made only vague innuendos on the depths of my transgression(s). If anyone else has been told the cause of my fate, perhaps they'd like to share it with me?

3. A big thanks to those who have supported me (if not on my stance at least my request for the truth) and publicly voiced their various concerns/objections. My thread here was not in any way designed to cause trouble at KFC for any member other than myself. I hope that no one has been added to a shitlist or been reprimanded for their words.

I think that's all for now........

1) I was wondering about this. How would you contact him if were banned and being banned means no access to messaging? Unless you had his email and most of us do not keep emails of every member

2) I believe the banning was do to expletives in the private messages. That is what I gleaned from that long thread at KFC.

3) I was not surprised by the support, but I was surprised by some other things in that long thread.

Now given the disturbing actions of a certain moderator, I don't expect this post to remain up very long. It has to be said that he's clearly letting the power go to his head. As a community surely we should all have a say on how this forum is run. This isn't a business or organisation where what the boss says goes. Clearly this isn't a private matter as it affects the forum going forward. Obviously we want to end this "drama" as soon as possible but surely as members of this forum we should have a say in new rules and guidelines.

Why can't we talk about where fellow members have suddenly gone without being censored? If Teako is to decide what is right and wrong, who gets banned, who can say what. Ultimately who monitor's Teako? Surely we should know exactly why people are being banned? He's been very cagey on his responses . I have to say given that in the American constitution people have the right to free speech, why is he circumventing this right. Okay we're not all from America but this is a forum for adults mostly used by adults.

Mark is Mark and his behaviour has been, to the best of my recollection like this for years. Why is this suddenly unacceptable? Were the new rules even needed? Some arguments get heated and perhaps go the wrong side of acceptable, but in such a niche community can we just throw away valuable members because one person thinks he owns the damn place and is turning this into a dictatorship. I think everyone here has to ask themselves is this the way you want the forum to go down? To have your long considered messages removed on a whim because someone doesn't like one sentence?

If anything they should be more administrators/moderators especially in the absence of Mark Pollard. Make your thoughts known while you still can. This is your forum, is this how you want it ran?

I really don't know Mark very well and isn't just about him, although I think he's done his time out in the cold. Call it an extended suspension. Figuratively today it is Mark and tomorrow it's… Me, you, OAB etc etc.

I'm pretty sure many are already aware of what's going on with the forum and Teako's way of running it. They just don't seem to care enough or they've simply moved on doing what KFC is about: talking movies.

I respect y'all for standing for what you believe in and knowing the morals behind running a forum, and the authority moderators should possess. But at this point, there's nothing more that can be done except expressing your feelings toward the mess here or over private PMs as new threads over there keep getting removed anyway.

I think it is good to vent or at least have an outlet to vent in. I thought that one thread should have stayed open until it had run its course which it did not.

On these forums there is usually a big difference between an administrator and mod. The mod can have a variety of power, but only what that is given to the administrator (there can be more than one of these, but it/they are usually who pays for the site.) Mark Pollard is an admin (of course) and I think he is the only one that has control over certain issues like forum category changes (mods get basic stuff like moving threads, banning, deletion/editing etc...) and has access to the underlying SQL. He was the one who did the previous reorganization.

I wonder if Mark P. got Mark's email?

BTW: who is the mods/admins here?

We actually had our own Battle of the Mods here at Bullets many many years ago... Brad was terrorizing (maybe, I can't remember...) the board with his mod rights, the rest of the members were fed up with it. We then made a secret patch with the other mod, Tom, to start a revolution and relieve Brad of his mod rights.

It was all very excing, especially when at the important moment Tom discovered his modding rights were not eough for changing another mod's status back to ordinary member. The only option then, before Brad would find out and retaliate, was to ban him altogether. That's what Tom did. The next few days we were then trying figure out how to give Brad his account (with his roughly 17 000 posts) back without accidentally granting him the mod rights. Somehow we managed that eventually.

No, seriously, during the 5 years or so I've been modding here I've never had to ban anyone, except spam bots. Only one time I had to "censor" the board when the previously mentioed Brad, a normal member at that time, was receiving comments like "why don't you go and kill yourself" and "I wish you would die" from another member. Had to delete that shit and tell him that I will ban him if he continues that. The guy never posted again after that, if I recall correctly.

This whole thing has become too ridiculous for words. "just play by the rules, how hard is that?" Well, when the rules don't apply to all members in equal measure, it's pretty hard to swallow. There's now an entire thread dedicated to mocking a certain other member and his kung fu skills. Whether or not that member deserves some scorn, is besides the point. It is clearly against the rules. But since it was started by one of the "holy cows" of KFC, no action will be taken. The same guy who has posted narrow minded and negative crap for years, yet no one says anything. I cannot stomach hypocrisy.

I've had to change mods back to normal in the past which is really easy when you have admin status. Usually it is because they got tired of being a mod but occasionally things like nonpayment or just plain gone.

Yeah that thread is tacky. Attack the post that offends you, but do not create a thread for that. It really is goading. Funny, it is one of the few threads I would have closed if I was a mod there (no I don't want to be a mod there

Never been a mod myself, but was once an editor or whatever you wanna call it on HKcinemagic, doing site updates, fixing errors etc. It was grueling work for little to no glory, and I eventually had to quit. Sadly just before I stopped, I had secured an interview with Danish 70's actress Birte Tove who appeared in Bamboo House of Dolls, Sexy Girls of Denmark and Mini Skirt Gang for Shaws. Talked to her over E-mail and she was very nice, and granted me an interview for the site at a later date. But then A bunch of real life stuff happened and I didn't have the time for HKCM anymore, so I never got to do that interview.... what a pity.

I've been thinking if I should try to do some interviews with Japanese filmmakers and actors in Yubari, but so far no... it's enough to be bullied by Yoshihiro Nishimura and have an idol spit beer on me while I'm on my knees (yeah, a lot of things happen in Yubari... some of which you can't speak publicly ever

You're not going to be re-instated at KFC unless you apologise to Taeko for the expletive-laced PMs (read: polite scottish slang) at the start of the whole incident I bet. Up to you really mate.
Just for the record I think permanently banning you was an immense over-reaction on the KFC mod's part, but you did force his hand by constantly challenging his rulings. With that in mind I think Kung Fu Bob's posts over on KFC are very reasonable and you should cut him some slack on any "judgement" of you he's made. You probably invited a temporary ban (a week at most maybe?) but the permanent ban thing was a shotgun to the head imo, so I do sympathise with you Mark & understand why you felt the need to vent.

As for all the people jumping ship: Obviously we're extremely happy to have you, but after reading that KFC thread it sounds like some of you will be seriously missed, I'd reconsider going back to the fold tbh! Just continue to post here as well!
