I guess you could still watch in English though, and I've seen something like Fist of Fury so many times I recognise some of the dialogue (if I watch in Cantonese).

Yeah, I hope this opens the door for Cine Asia to do an English friendly port of the films.
Worth contacting them?

Heres a sample of what the Japanese theatrical version of WAY is supposed to be like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWmKvZcgjWA
This is interesting because its dubbed in English BUT it also has Bruce's original battle fighting yells.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
The strange thing is when the films were first released to cinema's in Japan they were English dubbed versions!
The Japanese made some music changes and added some songs, if you have ever heard the Japanese soundtrack albums for these films you will know what i mean. Shame Japanese discs are so expensive.
I have lost faith in Cine Asia lately with there slow releases and poor choices.

Rashomon Criterion in November:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Rashomon-Blu-ray/53148/
Cover looks a bit odd though (banner at the bottom) like its for a comic or something. So thats 2 Criterions I'm after - Rashomon and The Game.

I'm all for original language...but i grew up in the late 70's/early 80's watching Bruce Lee movies dubbed and cut...if these releases represent a significant upgrade In PQ then i'm sold....but to be honest apart from the audio cannot see hpw you'd better the PQ on the K&R release of TBB at least.

Same here...BUT as long as its the original audio not the messed up 7.1 tracks with added sounds on the K&R which totally ruins it.saltysam wrote:I'm all for original language...but i grew up in the late 70's/early 80's watching Bruce Lee movies dubbed and cut...if these releases represent a significant upgrade In PQ then i'm sold....but to be honest apart from the audio cannot see hpw you'd better the PQ on the K&R release.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Don't see why it wouldnt be the longer HK version (thats the one I have).
ETA: Oh you mean the UK BD - it'll probably be the short version
Sorry to change the subject
But I noticed in the US their BD of The Raid has Unrated Version plastered over it... did we get the US R rated version in the cinema? Just hoping the uncut version is on our BD.

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
LWAC now up at the Animego site - confirmed to be 2 discs (so 3 films per disc?). Considering the DVDs were 1 DVD-5 per film thats more than 3 times the bitrate per film (I guess about 16.5GB each if they use all the space), so who knows how they'll look. Animego claims they have been made from new prints.

Seems like they screwed up. I guess they took their existing transfers from the Shogun Assassin set, and DNR'd them to hell...

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
Looks like some of the detail has been wiped out. The faces look plasticky.
Damn. I'll keep my DVDs then. They said on those that "Film grain and noise were reduced" but I didnt think theyd look as bad as that
How do you cancel an order at Import CDs?

Re: Asian Movies in HD!
I just cancelled my pre order if those screen caps are any guide. I'm happy with the Thai set for now (port of Animego set but PAL AFAIK), the Eureka DVD set is £25. Maybe one day Eureka will release them on BD.

Review for Third Window Film's Tetsuo 1&2 BD
- http://www.myreviewer.com/Tetsuo_The_Ir ... ew/a150544
Unfortunately no screencaps or region code info. Also I'm a bit disappointed there's no 5.1 track - while I typically go for the original mono, in case of Tetsuo the Studio Canal 5.1 track, which doesn't feature any added crap, was far cleaner and punchier than any of the mono tracks found on the various Japanese dvds. That doesn't mean the 2.0 track on the BD couldn't be equally good, but I'll have to find out for myself...
edit: actually there's a "tag" for Region B at the side of the page, but I'm not too sure if that has actually been confirmed... anyway, it's likely it's a Region B disc.
