I expected nothing from this film but was quite blown away! the plot is surprisingly engaging with some nice twists and turns. great cinematography and production design. looks like Tsui Hark is back!

Excellent movie, however I'll be perfectly fine if I never ever watched this one again. thats all I gotta say.

Another 70's kung fu basher.not very good,Bolo does his usual stuff and there's a couple of familiar faces from Way Of The Dragon.The star is Chan Wai Man who spends most of the film avoiding fights but when he gets going is a pretty good fighter.

Sadly the reviews were right-this is a big let down.Starts off great as well.Even the climax is well..an anti-climax.The uk blu-ray looks ok and has a dts-hd 5.1 track despite the packaging stating 5.1 dolby surround.

I didn't enjoy this very much, it seems to be too much about subtext and didn't pique my interest like other Kiyoshi Kurosawa films. I can't say it's a bad film, and I will watch it again in the future, hopefully the Japanese cut to see if that makes any difference.

Watched it on Channel 5 this evening with the whole family!

Undeniably entertaining. Probably one of Jackie's last truly stunning action films. Silly, fun and 100% inventive action. Jackie going 200% to please and thrill his audience. Feels like a classic now, just entertaining wise!

I like it too but would've preferred it if it was in Cantonese with less Westerners. Why? Because I don't know if dialogue is woeful if it's in a language I don't understand it is woeful in places.

The 19 Year Old’s Map (Japan, 1979) – 1.5/5
Life sucks in Mitsuo Yanagimachi’s misery drama. The Art Theater Guild production follows a 19 year old man whose life is empty. Friends ain’t doing any better either – everybody’s stealing, no one’s happy, and even Sukeban Deka II’s Keizo Kanie is banging the most unattractive broad in the hoods in the lack of better ho’s. It’s a competent zeitgeist, just like Tatsumi Kumashiro’s somewhat similarly spirited The Woman with Red Hair (also 1979) – whether these critically acclaimed depression bombs offer anything of value to the viewer is arguable. If 1979 Japan was really this dull, people out to have gone to cinema to see Norifumi Suzuki’s Truck Yarou films instead.

20th Century Nostalgia (Japan, 1997) – 4/5
Two high school students set out with video cameras to capture the life in the mid-1990’s Tokyo. Masato Hara’s cinematic feast is one of the 1990’s movie treasures. A predecessor for Anno’s Love & Pop and follower for Nobuhiko Obayashi, Hara mixes film footage with video camera cinematography and involves the characters in shooting the film. They run, dance, and sing – yes, the 15 year old lead star Ryoko Hirosue was a pop idol after all – and do all that while holding a camera. It’s a pop art explosion that blurs the line between art house cinema and idol experimentalism free of coherent form. While the more traditional scenes become almost a drag, the best bits radiate pure inspiration like a Russian power plant. The world just might be a better place if 35 millimeter filmmaking was banned. Don’t you think so?

oh fucking d'oh. That was a joking response to a UK resident (Gas) assuming a film would've been edited on Finnish TV (which, as far as I know, has never happened to any film).
