Seems to be uncut. The BBFC recorded the uncut submission (no uncut version has been passed yet) as 127:12. What rating is the box set overall? Must still be an '18' because of Lethal Weapon (1)?saltysam wrote:Got the Lethal Weapon set today-checked part 4,it has a running time of 127 minutes 23 seconds.

Re: The General HD Releases Thread!
You have got to be kidding me? I thought the argument on DNR was so rampant across pretty much every film forum on the internet that there wasn't anyone around who couldn't spot DNR as blatant as it is in the old Lethal Weapon BD! Note I did not say the image was sharper, it just has more fine detail, textures are far too smooth on the old release, just look at the shot of the two kids:Markgway wrote:Can you give an example?

Look at this grab, if you can't tell it's been DNR'd by Stevie Wonder then your eyesight is worse than Stevie Wonder's:

Bleurgh!
OH NOES!!! I can't see all the detail in the recesses of that bush as this big house blows up!!! Here's a tip about judging shadow detail Mark, do it in scenes where the detail is needed, ie: scenes with low-lighting. Any idiot with photoshop can bring out the shadows in that explosion shot by fiddling with the highlights, and the general brightness levels on the old release look boosted to me. For a film shot outside in California the variance of shadows and highlights look totally unnatural to me, like the film was shot at dusk. Lethal Weapon is supposed to look contrasty.Look at the trees in the explosion cap.

Re: The General HD Releases Thread!
It must be a blind spot for me then because I don't see any additional detail. I see the grain structure but if natural shouldn't that bring more detail with it? And if DNR doesn't remove grain (and only smooths out the appearence) is that a big problem? It's not like we're talking Predator or Gladiator here.Shingster wrote:You have got to be kidding me? Also the colours are a bit off. That kid's jacket is bright pink. It was always red from memory.
Interesting but I don't pretend to be an expert so tone down the sarcasm. I just find it odd that previously seen shadow detail would be missing on a superior transfer. So it only counts on night scenes. Now I know.OH NOES!!! I can't see all the detail in the recesses of that bush as this big house blows up!!! No point arguing with you Mark on the LW1 transfer, because you are never wrong.
According to a reliable fellow on TheDVDForums, LW4 is uncut, but I don't think he's sat and watched it, he's just looked where the cuts used to be.

Re: The General HD Releases Thread!
I'm not, we all know by now how anal and argumentative I can get when I really care about a debate!
I just don't have the time or the desire (or the discs!) to argue the toss. You're always so sure of your own opinion Mark even when arguing with people who perhaps (and I say perhaps - and not necessarily in this specific case) may be more experienced or knowledgeable on a particular subject than you are. I just think: What's the point?
I will say just one thing, DNR of the kind seen on the old Lethal Weapon disc looks pretty awful on a large projector screen, even when all you're losing is the fine textures.

It's my opinion. I'm not stating facts. The new disc probably is better and I'd imagine most would agree with you on that. I'm just saying I have a few 'issues' is all. It's not like I'm not gonna buy it when it's on sale.

You may be waiting a long time. They always put that disclaimer but frequently don't add the information. See also A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Cool, I haven't bought it on BD yet because the current releases haven't made me want to upgrade, will do for this one though.

Re: The General HD Releases Thread!
Hmm I forgot it had recently been re-released in the UK, I was thinking about the original Pathé release and the US Sony one. I can't find any mention of a remastered transfer on the new UK one though so think I'll still go with the upcoming US one.
