Most of it is distantly based on truth but totally exaggerated, some of it is completely made up. But it's very clever because all of it makes perfect sense in a parodic J-culture sense, so it's easy to relate it to reality.

That is Japan in a nutshell. That is the spirit, atmosphere, and accent, that filled my life for one year. Everything is there.
