Well thanks. I know what a semicolon and colon look like. Moving on . . .

I have respect for Romero; even if he says some really mad things at times :D

For those who don't yet own 24 it's dirt cheap on R4, well Season 1 is anyway:

Season 1 @ AUD $31.96/£13.27 delivered (cheapest UK R2 is £23.99 so even lower than the £17.99 sale price and R1 is £25), not released until June:

http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/product.jsp?pid=26211

Seasons 2/3/4 @ AUD $54.33/£22.56 delivered, out now:

S2 - http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/product.jsp?pid=26212
S3 - http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/product.jsp?pid=26213
S4 - http://www.dvdcrave.com/products/product.jsp?pid=26214

I'd probably be wary of getting the other seasons abroad though as customs will probably sting you.

Beware they released it originally in Half Season parts in Australia but are being re-released/have been released in single season box sets.

I've finally decided to give this show ago and am bidding for it on eBay. I'll start with just Season 1. I'd like to pick up Lost too but that's far to expensive right now. Sure I could download it but I'd have to faff around converting it to DVD format and the quality won't be anywhere near as good too.

p.s - There's oddly another Season 2 box set released in 2003 too??? -

24 is 17.99 for all seasons in UK (was 16.99 last month) so no need to get crappy Ausie dvds at all for 2,3 and 4. I paid 12.99 brand new, and 24 Season 1 was under promotion for 11.99 so them ausie prices are not to cheap at all :)

Ebay beware as nearly all of them are pirates, its shocking and not even worth risking when they are so cheap brand new.

Whoa! Thats a bargain and a half Brad.
Romero why are the Oz DVDs crap? Don't they have the same specs as the UK DVDs :?
Where did you get them for £12.99 brand new? Anyway the R4's from DVD Crave are £9.95 brand new so thats even better :D

Where? I can't find them for less than £24. What exactly is crap about them? I presume you mean why bother but that doesn't make them crappy, the covers are a bit cluttered but big deal, otherwise they're identical.
romerojpg wrote:I paid 12.99 brand new, and 24 Season 1 was under promotion for 11.99 so them ausie prices are not to cheap at all :)
Again where? If that price is over then why bother mentioning it? I was really talking about Season 1 being cheap and the other Seasons being reasonable (for new products).
romerojpg wrote:I paid 12.99 brand new
Where do you find these prices?

It's not the first time months later you cite a much cheaper price than anyone else has managed to find. Why don't you post when you find such bargains?
romerojpg wrote:Ebay beware as nearly all of them are pirates, its shocking and not even worth risking when they are so cheap brand new.
Not so. For new and at the cinema titles then yes sure but for older DVDs that are less popular bootlegs aren't as common.

Checking on eBay for 24 about 1/3 are bootlegs and the rest you can see are legit as they've provided proper photos but I gave up bidding as all were going over £15 and that makes them more expensive than R4.

I'm only interested in Season 1 for now. I've not seen 24 to be able to comment but American TV producers don't have a clue usually when it's the right time to end a show. Friends for example classic up until Series 4/5 it went on for another 4 series I think (wasn't there 8 series?), it got well dull by then.

I'm really tempted to get the R4 of 24: S1 for a tenner.

No worries. Only Season 1 btw (I suspect it's a preorder price) and it's £13 after postage. It's not released until the 15th of June but big deal that's only just over a month.

p.s - Even at Romero's prices: let me see £17.99 for UK R2 (Romero said the £11.99 price was a promotion ergo it's now over) or shall I pay £13.27 for EXACTLY the same box set with a slightly cluttered cover art and Region 4 instead of Region 2.

Yep I like wasting money (nearly a fiver cheaper). I'll go Region 2 :D

Grim it isnt a tenner, you have to add postage remember :)

I didnt mean the Oz dvds in particular were crap, just that if they are cheaper elsewhere they are crap, if you get that :) Why pay more I meant :)

24 is always on offer cheap, just at the moment they went up in price a little for a short time, they will be back down to 17.99 again I bet you on that :) I only bought Season 4 a few weeks back for 16.99 so they only now put the prices up till the next offer :)

Season 1 is always cheap on the net, I have seen it for 8 pound on forums brand new very recently, so looking about its not hard to find it cheapish. Its worth getting anyway and as long as you watch it as quick as you can it relly works amazingly well, if you space it out over many months then thats pointless I think, you wouldnt do it with a film, so dont do it with a Show thats meant to be wtched all in one.

I am going to try to watch Season 1,2,3 and 4 back to back next week :D now thats going to be fun.

Dude you really need to get out more :D . You know what a pub is right?

p.s - Cheers btw. Yeah DVDs prices do jump all over the place. I'm sure the 24 Seasons will be much cheaper than they are now but as low as £13.27 I'm not so sure.

For me like I said I'm only interested in Season 1, to start off with.

Hey I am off work for 3 weeks, I have plenty of speare time :D I may just give up and watch Season 4 as I have seen 1,2 and 3 and its a lot of time to invest in a TV show, but it would be worth it mind you :D

Which Season do you like best? Aren't you going away then?

Where did you see Season 1 for £8 btw? And where did you find Seasons 2-4 for £17.99/£16.99?

Cheers

I aint going anywhere away, never will the way my lifes going :( want to go to america this year or early next year mind you, maybe Vegas for some strange reason, alone!

£8 on a forum, maybe dvdforums?, not quite sure :) I look all over the place you see.

Best Season, well thats a very hard thing to answer as really for me they are all about the same, stunning really and all seem pretty much so interlinked its like watching the same film for a few days none stop :)

£13.27 is very cheap for a 6 disc set, I'll order it one day.

So in non-Grim speak it means you won't bother :D .

I'm confident that's a preorder price Grim considering the rest are much more. I could be wrong though but I don't think I am.
romerojpg wrote:I aint going anywhere away, never will the way my lifes going :( want to go to america this year or early next year mind you, maybe Vegas for some strange reason, alone!
You've mentioned this a few times. You want to go away but don't, what's holding you back? You seem scared of the prospect.

Las Vegas doesn't appeal to me but many adore the place. I tell you going away on your own if you want to really get an idea of a country/place is a must. You get so much more out of it and the locals if you haven't got someone else with you.

I'm talking from experience here.
romerojpg wrote:£8 on a forum, maybe dvdforums?, not quite sure :) I look all over the place you see.
Cheers. I've asked at The DVD Forums.

Yep and unless I can find it cheaper at The DVD Forums etc . . . I'll be going for it in a few weeks. When it's a bit closer to the next pay day.

If it stays at that price for a few weeks that is :D
Do DVD Crave charge when they ship or when you order?

grim_tales wrote:So why cant you order it now Brad? :)
Because I've spent my self imposed DVD limit, particularly with the Martin Scorsese box set I've just bought.

I reckon it's a preorder price and as as it's not coming out until the 15/06/06 I reckon it's a safe bet the price will stay for 2-3 weeks. If not then so be it.

EDIT: Good point about charging when they ship. I'll leave it a day or so to see if I can get it cheaper at DVD Forums then I'll preorder if not.

Okay Okay you've forced me I've preordered :D . Note I have a Wanted thread over at DVD Forums and DVD Swaps but no one has replied so it looks like $31.96/£13.03 (as of now) is the cheapest.

It's about time I checked 24 out. I hope it lives up to the ENORMOUS hype.
EvaUnit02 wrote:When they ship.
Actually it's either, you get to choose. Which could work to your advantage if the exchange rate is particularly good.

I'm choosing to be charged when it ships though as I've spent enough on DVDs this month.

Hey,

Simpsons Season 6 (and a few other seasons) - $24.97 @ Amazon.com (not including shipping):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009N ... ance&n=130

However, by August (when S8 is released on DVD) S1-6 will go down to a MSRP (RRP) of $39.98 instead of $49.98 so they could be even be cheaper by then.
