When Lucas says the masters don't exist he is insulting your intelligence, the best way to produce a HD transfer is not to faff about with old, existing masters but to go back to the original negative (or the closest print to that negative) and produce brand new masters! This is how the HD transfers of Alien and Aliens were produced, and the gulf in quality between them and Alien 3, Alien Resurrection (which both used pre-existing masters) is obvious.

If he doesn't have the money to do that, or the Star Wars Blu-ray won't generate enough money to pay for an expensive inception, then frankly I don't know what will!

Yup, I haven't checked out Resurrection yet, but Alien 3 looked more like 720p than 1080p.

The original theatrical versions on Blu-Ray would be definitive and therefore not in the interest of Lucas to release.

@ Shing: That's basically what I meant but you know technically more about the process than I. It's clearly not a money problem but Lucas is way too stubborn to create anything HD when it comes to the original original trilogy cuts or whatever they're called. He has so much money, I doubt cares about making any more by selling them. Which would of course sell plenty.

As long as Lucas doesn't release the movies on BR the way you want them, just download them instead. Why financially support a release you don't really care about...!?

Lucas is a greedy shit who cares more about his own ego than the fans who made him billions of $$$.

What a terrible cover art.

Already got the Criterion Blu, so it's of no interest for me

Re. Blow Out:

Cool film but steep price and shocking cover art.

Why aren't MGM releasing this?

That cover art is way too cluttered - yuk.
Blow-Up (1966) probably had an influence on this film, it (Blow-Up) was OK but IMO Blow-Out is superior and a cool film.

While a bit messy, I think the cover is pretty cool and original. Tired of the more typical, near identical covers that 95% of dvds usually have.

I'm sure I will too, just not keen on the cover.
Seen Hung's post - good point. Criterion are known for more unusual covers.

Unusual does not equal good - or interesting for that matter.

I prefer the DVD art.

Anyone got the Disney BD of Beauty and the Beast?
Excellent transfer, BUT at the end there's a Pop ad - "Reccomend Viewing", just as the credits start - WTF :banghead: I know you can just make it disappear but its the principle of the thing I can't stand, very distracting  Putting them in the movie = unforgiveable.

Didn't know that, but what a complete assholes...

I hate that kinda stuff as well, and it would probably ruin the complete experience for me. If I would have bought it ina store I'd bring it back and download these movies from now on until Disney would change their ways. What a fucking idiots.

It would annoy me too for sure but if it's during the credits the experience is over anyway, assuming there's no footage during the credits. It is cheeky though.

Bang out of order.

The credits are part of the film whether you choose to watch them or not.

Exactly. As discussed so many times before, the end credits sequence can sometimes even be the most important scene in the film. Some examples:

Gelatin Silver, Love: this film really identifies itself during the ending credits.
964 Pinoccio: Another film that wraps the storyline and thematic content during the end credits. If you skip the credits you may not understand what the storyline was about.
Love & Pop: the end credits is one of my favorite movie scenes ever (6 minute tracking shot).
Ohikkoshi: another impressive tracking shot providing the background for the ending credits

I would expect Brad kind of comments from a 13 year old ADHD kid, but to read those on a movie board... :(

It's very simple. When you buy a MOVIE, be it on DVD or BR or whatever, there shouldn't be crap that detracts from that movie.

No warnings, no unskippable ads, no trailers, etc. You want to put that crap on the disc? No problem. Put them as an option in the menu. Trailers which are in a menu never bothered me, and I'll probably even watch them. Trailers which are in front of a movie and are unskippable, are unforgivable.

Oh give over. I was giving an opinion. Whether you choose to agree or disagree is your business.

Since when did 13 year old kids have the attention span to read credits?

Agreed but then I never disagreed to start with.
