Review of the R1 LEs from Thedigitalbits. There's been other reviews, but the reviewers are ignorant fuckers. Dvdreviewer.co.uk, honestly? LOL.

I'll be picking these up for sure. I don't own 2004 remastered altered cuts anyway.

Now put that 2004 disc in, do you still say it looks perfectly fine? Nope I didn't think so.

I'm staying well clear.

Nah, I have no intention of watching the 2004 Faggot Editions (I do like having the option brought by owning them though). I probably would've bought Especially with the botched 5.1 track of on ANH and the redubbing of Boba Fett with Remuera Morrison.

Brad, what was your opinion of the "Empire of Dreams" doco on the 2004 boxset extras disc?

Not even to compare the PQ? How do "you" know the audio is botched if you've not heard it for yourself?

The sample clip of the Fanfare being buried under all the SFX in Audio Changes section says it all.

It's interlaced? It gets worse.

Which clip exactly? So I download the right one.

Nah, it's progressive. It's just that everything is locked into 16:9 in prog scan modes on TV and I can't "resize" it.

Yeah, I've got the same problem with my 720p projector.
For 4/3 programs you have to use 480i or 576i.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I don't "think" I can change those sorts of modes period on my Samsung 32" HD LCD TV at all.

I can on my DVD player where I leave it set to 720p. I can't honestly tell the difference between it and 1080i but understand 720p is generally better so use that.

I'm sure I'm being thick and it is late but I don't really understand what Eva means by "everything is locked into 16:9 in prog scan modes on TV and I can't "resize" it"???

Oww I wish I hadn't downloaded them now. That remix sounds awful. I distinctly remember that music at that point. I'll have to check out the DVD to see if I can hear it in the real-world.

The problem (for me anyway) is the 2004 DVD does look so gorgeous and the Original cut so awful. With the exception of Jabba being added into ANH (he looks A LOT better in the 2004 over 1997 cut) and Hayden Christiansen being morphed in at the end of ROTJ I don't mind the alterations tbh.

The Jabba part especially is a disaster, he's far far to small for starters. In the space of ANH and RTOJ he's grown 4 times (at least ) larger, but like I said those are only two problems.

Sure some aren't necessary but many make the film look better IMO.

If we get an Original trilogy in Anamorphic (that's before it's even remastered) I'll pick it up without thought. As let's face it they make the film look better but aren't necessary.

I had a gander at 1977 SW and it doesn't look bad zoomed in on my 28" set IMO (only played the opening scene and the part with R2D2/C3PO on the desert planet).

You're only saying that in comparison  . Any other film this release would be trashed by everyone.

Nothing really except I find it odd people are saying "it's fine" when in reality it's more of "It's fine because I want it to be fine". Than it actually being fine.

Adequate would be a better word. This is the best that we're gonna get in regard to the O-OT for the time being.

Star Wars 30th Anniversary DVD set?
The Force.net wrote: Star Wars 30th Anniversary DVD Set Confirmation?

Posted By Dustin on October 3, 2006

We've just received a translation of the recent LEGO booklet posted here in this story.

"STAR WARS celebrates it 30th anniversary !

* The LEGO Star Wars line still sells well - even in years without a movie. In 2005, the LEGO Star Wars assortment was about 70 % of the total revenue of all Star Wars licences in central europe. In April 2006, LEGO Star Wars was about 7,8% of the total revenue of LEGO Central Europe

* Because of the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars Saga, there will be a balanced assortment of NEW LEGO Star Wars items and best seller with new designs, in 2007. All sets include unique parts and figures.

* The STAR WARS DVD set, that will be released at the 30th anniversary, will be responsible for an increased sale of the new sets. There will be a anniversary logo on all LEGO Star Wars sets.

* All LEGO Star Wars set will be very detailed - with many authentic features, heros and bad guys from the movies.

* Different price points for all conditions"

Notice the bit about the 30th Anniversary DVD set? Yeah me too :-)
