The BBFC say no cuts :icon_suspect: If thats the case (that its cut) I'm buying the USA BD. I'm sure the bloody spear tip was in the cinema version :?

It was, but they'll have used one censored European master for the Blu-rays.

That sucks imo, I'm importing the USA BD then. Under 12's could see it uncut in the cinema but those 12 and over have to see a cut version on BD? :?

The UK one is missing the extras anyway so it's a piece of shit.

We've already had one unofficial release of Above the Law (not one of my favourites TBH).

I have the US editions of the two Under Siege movies.

If they release Executive Decision (shame about the PC censorship) and Hard to Kill separately I would pick those up... otherwise I'll wait for a good price for the US single discs.

£25 is a fair price, but not for only two films I need.

Yeah, there's was a comparison at Movie Censorship but it's been removed.

Many countries affected, but no one knows why just yet.

That's on my to-watch list.

But which country was it cut for? Germany? Seems a drastic measure.

Best buy Americano.
grim_tales wrote:Re; Executive Decision, isnt a censored master used for the USA BD?
True, alas. Warners used the PC European master. Perhaps again with a single global HD master in mind. Sucks. I'm surprised there wasn't more outrage given the political reasons for the cutting.

WTF! Despite being more not less cut surely it cannot still display a British certificate? It's not the version the BBFC passed.

Technically, Brad is right. If the BBFC haven't passed that particular version then the certificate doesn't apply.

It's still there? http://www.movie-censorship.com/news_en.php?ID=4149

It was cut for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland by the looks of it.

It looks pretty poor without the spear. I seem to recall he dies pretty violently.

What's the precedence here?

We just know the UK Avengers will eventually be cheap but the USA one will remain pricey too :(. I'll pick it up at some point. I thought it was great.

Well, AFAIK, Disney should resubmit the film as cut. But whether that will happen is difficult to say. One would assume that the BBFC are aware of the situation by now.

I'll rent it soon.

I'm not sure if you'd like it that much. It's extremely dark and pessimistic, though quite unique also for being set entirely in snowy landscapes.

"There’s been no censorship, no foul play," declares Disney UK home entertainment spokesperson Lydia Rodrigues, "the version of Marvel’s Avengers Assemble on Blu-ray disc in the UK is the same as the version shown theatrically. It really is."

A shocking lie perpetrated by Disney that effectively calls the BBFC (who admit their mistake in regards to the video classification) liars.

The contempt these House of Mouse assholes have for consumers is unlimited.

Thankfully it's being flooded with negative reviews on Amazon anyway, always nice to see people not standing for it, especially since we pay more in this country.

The Disney rep's attitude was basically 'fuck you'.

'It's not cut' = blatant lie.

'less extras because the masters didn't arrive in time' = (assuming that part is true) rather than delay the item we decided to shaft you AGAIN and will not go to the expense of offering you what we should have in the first place.

Disney - 1. UK consumer - 0.

Can't see the BBFC being bothered too much...havven't Warners been releasing uncut BD's of previously cut titles without resubmitting some of them?

I have to agree with you and whats worse is that the bloody spear was deemed "inappropriate" by Disney so they removed it, even though the BBFC admit it serves "narrative purpose" (its an important plot point)!

The Avengers Blu-ray & DVD was just on Watchdog, Disney claimed the censorship was 'for compliance reasons'

"Thanks to those of you who have let us know about an issue on the Marvel Avengers Assemble UK Blu-Ray and DVD release, which has a less graphic depiction of Agent Coulson's confrontation with Loki," said Disney in a statement. "Each country has its own compliance issues relative to depictions of violence. Unfortunately, another region's elements were inadvertently used to create the UK in-home release which minimally altered this scene in the film. We thank our fans for their vigilance in recognising this and apologise for the mix up."

Disney has even taken the unusual step of suggesting that fans purchase the US Blu-Ray of the film, which should work on UK players. "We know that hardcore fans with Blu-ray players are probably going to end up buying the US release, which has the commentary," Rodrigues told Home Cinema Choice. "The American Blu-Ray is region-free."
LOL, so rather than Disney correcting their mistake and giving the UK what it deserves, we are instead told to buy the US version (and thus more money for Disney), brilliant.
