Seriously Grim, you
didn't just say that... did you?!
Michelle Dessler?! She was in Day 2 right through to Day 5. Have you skipped those seasons?! Are you going straight from Day 1 to Day 6?!

Ahhh.. nope. I have seen S1-3, most of S4 (plus the end), the start of S5 (which I want to see all of).

Yeah, but if you've seen Days 1 to 3,
surely you
must recognise the lovely Michelle Dessler (aka Reiko Aylesworth)?!

In Day 3, her and Tony get together.. I think, it been some time since I have seen that

You could say that... By the start of Day 3, Michelle & Tony are married!

Just watched the trailer. This looks good! Not seen part 1 though as I've heard so much crap about it!

Go get part 1, do you really care what someomne else thinks of a film?
You are not them.
A V P Part 1 is fine, just stupid and a bit to comedic like Alien Ressurection.

The director's don't exactly bode well.
Before CGI this could've had a chance, today it will be CGI heaven and probably be okay at best. This list of 70s/80s classics that have worked today are minimal.

I definitely agree with that in.. I've just not seen it as my enthusiasm for it isn't there because of the last part of what you said. Having heard things like that and how it doesn't stand up well as far as Alien films go, it just isn't high on my "want to see" list. I'll see it someday, probably shortly before part 2...

Yup its far from a perfect film, and its style is kind of Alien Ressurection on crack at times.
But if you found Alien Ressurection ok then I think you will probibly find A V P ok as well
I rewatched AR the other night, I do like it and then it starts to grate on me and once the Alien Orgy scene comes on the screen, well it takes a massive chunk of the film away from me

down hill all the way.
A V P is much the same, some really good scenes (the alien and predators are great and some fights are superb) but its silly.
Silly and Alien films do not mix for me, make them bloody depressing and serious I say. Cut the wisecracks and jokes.

I had high hopes for Alien Resurrection, the starting and the way the aliens escape was good, I liked the way they brought back Ripley and her DNA mixed in with the aliens, that a good idea. Goods bit of Sci Fi, but the 3rd part of the film just really got on my nerves, especially the alien hybird, oh come on that is sketetor isn't it. I can't see that bit and not think of He-man, it was stupid. It has potential, the music suited the movie fine, but after like Romeo says the orgy scene, thats it, it went downhill from there

I kinda liked AVP, but they mucked up on the facehugger and how long it takes for the chestburster to come out, it is not straight away. That was really annoying, the fight scene with the predator and alien was great, the mano a mano, but was over too quick. Would love to have seen some more.

I watched the entire Alien series over the last few days, ist amazing how good parts 1,2 and 3 are

(part 3 grows on me more and more), then part 4 comes and its bang! a totally different film series, a blockbuster film with jokes etc..
A V P 2 for me so far looks like more of the same sillness so far, yes its got blood, but who cares? if you want blood to buy a bucket and kill a cow! blood makes a good fil,m not. Hopefully the films good, but so far it looks in your face and they just tried to much in the trailer, showed way to much and spiled a lot also.

I remember liking Alien 4 until that really stupid Alien Baby, the underwater chase is great. It still looks much better than AVP 2 will be based on that trailer. Too much Hollywood gloss as per usual.

Thats why I dont base anything on trailers

I just see the film I want to see, I want to see AVP2 and nothing will stop me.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't basing my opinion on the trailer per say just the gloss evident in the film. I'd bet money on it the gloss will be through the entire film.
Give me models over CGI any day. Would Alien honestly be as good if it was replaced with CGI? No way. It just almost always looks so fake to me.

Hopefully if the films shit, someone will blow me up

save me the trouble of wasting my time getting excited over it.
and as for CGI VS Models/puppets etc.. after watching the full series, I can say Alien and Aliens work far better than any of the other films. Poor Alien 3 was stuck in the middle, its got a mixture of all of them and its one ugly films special effects wise.
But if done perfectly CGI is well, perfect

but sadly most CGI is crap, look at AVP some nice shots, some utter crap ones, both CGI and models and puppets.

I saw the first half of this last night on FilmFour.
While on the one hand I have to admit seeing The Predator go against an Alien was very cool, on the other hand it was completely forgettable. The acting on display was woeful. A replacement for Arnie? Please. How the film-makers can stuff up such a wonderful creation (The Predator) so many times is beyond me. We've now had 3 appearances from The Predator and only once they've got it right. It is a weird one they never created more Predator films.
I then turned over to watch Jonathan Ross which was much more entertaining. I couldn't be arsed to go back and watch the rest, which I guess says it all.
Didn't they change the look of The Predator? He didn't look the same as he did in Predator.

I assume you mean the first half of AVP 1, not AVP Requiem?? Or is AVP:R a straight to TV effort?!
