Christ, those Craignotbond.com dudes are fuckwits. So what if the guy doesn't fit the established physical specs for the character (tall with dark hair), or has never played a similar role? They should see the finished film before they judge it.

Teaser trailer up. Right-click>Save link as. It's dubbed into French though.

Also the first teaser poster:-

I like it. Would make awesome DVD coverart, but we'll prolly get some photoshop'd montage mess with floating heads.

Supposed translation of the French dialogue:-

M:It might be asking too much for a bulldozer like you to understand this. Any tough guy can kill ... I'm asking you to put your ego aside.

Bond: You want me to become half monk, half killer?

M: I knew you were to immature for this promotion.

Bond: I've heard that 00's have a short lifespan ...

Cue action.

Right-click the link and bring up the content-sensitive menu and select "Save Link As" ("Save Target As" in IE).

If it still doesn't work there's a streaming version up on Youtube.

I'm going to reserve my judgement til I've seen the film. Batman fans said the same thing about Tim Burton when they heard that Michael Keaton (known for comedic roles at the time) was cast in the title role, they were proved wrong.

True.

Hmm.. since we get M saying "I may regret promoting you" and Bond responds "I hear 00's have a very short lifespan", this could be an unfortunate choice of clip considering the bad press Craig has got. :?
I'll still see the film regardless - its got to better than DaD.

If the movie pulls in the bank, then he'll prolly be in future Bond films. He has a multiple picture deal AFAIK.

Oh yeah, just remembered that this is based on Fleming's first book, so it'd be a prequel to all the others. Not that it matters since continuity is very trivial in the Bond franchise.

I think this maybe a knowing wink to the actors who've played 007 in the series.

James Bond composer David Arnold has confirmed to BBC 6 Music that the recent rumours that Goldfrapp would be writing the theme song to Casino Royale are false.
That's a relief, Goldcrap are fucking terrible. Their synth-pop makes the worst that the 80's had to offer seem like musical geniuses. Also, the lead singer chick is freaky.

brooce-leroy wrote:The film looks about million times better than Die Another Day already, and Eva Green is a bit tasty too. Daniel Craig ain't that much to look at, but he seems to be a no nonsense 007 in the Timothy Dalton mode. I really liked Brosnan but at times he seemed too much like an international playboy than a killer.
Agreed but tbh I still thought Brosnan had much more charisma than Dalton.

Agreed DAD was awful but otherwise the films were better than Dalton's era, which were mostly lame. Moore era's was camp to high heaven, we never believed he was a killer but to me it didn't matter as he was so much fun and of course Connery was a razor edge killer.

WOW, WOW, WOW. This looks fucking awesome.

It looks sooo much better than DAD. I'm so pleased they're going back to the roots of Bond. Sure Craig has a bit of a charisma issue (but by golly it's not half as bad as Lazenby's) but otherwise it looks excellent, really gritty, tough and no silly over the top CGI.

When's it out? I can't wait.

It's been to long for a decent Bond flick, the series should never have been allowed to get so badly down hill.

The trailer is 10 times better than the whole of DAD (Halle Berry aside).

BTW you may as well opt for the High Res. the Super High Res. is only marginally better, both are exactly the same resolution.

Oh and Royale (as opposed to Royal) actually means: Custard cut into shapes and used as a garnish in soups.

WTF!!!

p.s - Was Casino Royale the first book? As this definitely looks to be made as the very first Bond, he's just been made a 00.3

:o

The two Dalton films are among the series' very best.

Brad, yeah, Casino Royale was published in 1953, it was Ian Flemming's first novel to feature James Bond.

Totally agree. Dalton is awesome. Almost as cool as Dalton in Road House.

Have you been in the San Diego sun for too long? :D From what I was watching, it looks as if Craig has charisma by the bucketload. And Lazenby was quite good IMO.
