Thanks Nils. :) You know, I went to log on to irc a few weeks back, just to pop on and say hello to some of the folks, and I couldn't remember my login info. :P Just as well, I guess. Email works just fine and isn't a fraction as addictive. ;)

btw, do you know any info about mandy? I think of her sometimes and wonder what happened with her situation.

EDIT: OMG! I can't believe I still had the "BnB is BACK!" story! I wrote this two computers ago, but somehow saved the document!

Here's a stroll down memory lane for some of you. . . .

Events that Conspired at the BnB is BACK! Party (April 24-25, 2003)

The following is the 68Monkey’s account of the BnB is BACK! party that commenced on Thursday night. Some people got a little out of hand, but can you blame them? We were all so excited by the return of our favorite hangout after an 11-day hiatus. Just as there are many versions of one truth, I’m sure there are partygoers out there who would strongly disagree with this account through the eyes of one monkey. So feel free to add your version of the truth, if you feel the need.

According to 68Monkey, the events that conspired are as follows:

Didn’t take long for word to spread that BnB was back open for business on Thursday night, and soon enough, many of the regulars started filing back in. I probably used bad judgment in announcing that the drinks were on me, but at the time, I didn’t realize just how out of hand things were going to get!

Among the early arrivals were Bruce-Leroy and Unreal Nils. Bruce showed up with a beautiful, studious-looking Asian woman by the name of Yumi on his arm. I thought, at last! Another woman to talk to! But no such luck, since there was a bit of the language barrier there. (By the way, Bruce: nice butt! Those rumors about your ass were true!) And thank god for Nils being there. Whenever the conversation lulled, Nils would liven things up by saying, “Hey, what’s the best movie you ever . . .” I didn’t see Nils’ naughty photos he brought with him, but that’s not to say they weren’t being passed around.

Knetan was his usual happy presence known, sitting back quietly in the dark with his shades on, but quick to add a pertinent comment or two to several conversations. The only time I saw him get worked up was when I pulled out my camera to take some pictures. (All you had to do was say no, Knetan. My god, did you have to throw my camera on the floor and stomp on it?). There were several people questioning whether or not Molly would ever return to us and what we should do about it. Latest gossip about Molly is that he’s taken up residence in a teahouse of ill repute with some cheeky geishas. He claims that with SARS going around, it’s best he stay indoors in bed.

Tigercage arrived, and I thought I was going to have the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Tigger. But when I went over to introduce myself, Tigger said, “Cheers, lady, but you’re not the kind of influence the Mrs. needs.” Oh, well. Wasn’t long, though, before Tigger left her on her own to start lots of conversations on different topics with several people.

Everyone was happy to see Hunter and Njaal, but opinion was divided over Hunter’s need to bring a big Panda and a green-haired dancer with him. I really didn’t have a problem with it since they were so adorable, but there were whispers that they were taking up way too much space.

Grim showed up a little later, having just arrived home from his trip to Florida. He brought loads of Hershey bars and Cheez-Its with him. Think he had a little too much fun in the states, because next thing we knew, he was standing on the table screaming “America f*#@’n ROCKS!” But before long he was singing about some Twenty-Something Mutant Ninja Turtles. ??? It was about this time that the Cheez-Its got mixed up with the fish ‘n chips someone had ordered. Then Toge threw a bunch of Chinese food on the table. This seemed to really please Knetan, who immediately set to the task of sorting out the junk food from the Asian goods. When Tigercage spilled a beer on the table, Knetan, cool as ever, had just one word to say: “Rubbish.” Tigger’s response? “Oh, quit flapping your gums, Knete!”

Now up until this point, things had been going just fine for me. But that’s when Kurgan shows up and says, “Hey Bobbi, have a JD and Coke for me. I’m the designated driver!” It wasn’t long before my head was spinning and my car keys were gone. I thought I was going to have an argument with Jamstro when he started talking about how lame JSA was, but someone steered us onto the topic of Miyazaki, and we calmed down when we realized we had similar opinions on KIKI. Then Romero rolls in with one black eye. It wasn’t long before one of his tactful comments to a pretty young waitress landed him with another shiner. As we helped him to his feet, he grumbled through some of his missing teeth, “This is crap!”

A few more JD and Cokes, and I was feeling no pain! And who do you think strolls in? The world’s most beautiful man, himself, Yi-Long. Being the exhibitionist that he is, he decided to show degeneration and Tigercage a few of his cool kung-fu moves – without a shirt on. Maybe it was the sight of those abs that rival Yuen Biao’s, or maybe it was those not-so-funny insults he started hurling my way about my bathing suit pictures he stole. Whatever it was, Yi-Long and I were soon embattled in an immature war of words. We stopped  and started Image.

Now if I hadn’t been drinking so much, I swear what I’m about to tell you would never have ever happened! Yi-Long just can’t stop egging me on, and soon he’s telling everyone that the girl in the bikini photos isn’t even me – it’s just my face pasted onto the body of a really fit woman. Well that was it! “Look at that tiny birthmark on my hip!” I fired back at him. “That’s me, you pompous asshole!” Then Yi-Long says, “Then prove it, Monkey Girl!!!” It must have been the liquor in me, because all of a sudden, I started to unsnap my jeans. That’s when Shingster grabbed me by the arm and gave me a sobering shake. “DO MY EYES DECEIVE ME?!? MY GOD, WOMAN, QUIT BEING A PILCHARD!!!” Then Shingster says, “Mind what you’re doing whilst minors are in your presence!” That’s when I looked over in the corner and saw Toge’s gaze locked on that pretty waitress’s chest (same one that caused the incident with Romero). I forget what happened right after that, only that I had to step out for awhile because I was feeling ill.

Oh, and Markgway did show up for a little while, but quickly disappeared again. I’ll have to say I was really expecting him to try pushing a stiff Scotch on me, but much to my surprise, he avoided me! I heard that The Asian DVD Guide threw their own party that night once they heard what was going on at BnB, so it could be that Mark showed where his true loyalties are. I thought about doing a little party-hopping myself, but was told that Andras thought my jokes were growing old. And Kurgan swore he saw Markgway drive by with an insanely happy look on his face, but someone else claimed it was just some sleepy guy heading home to bed.

Hopes that Jenz would show up again kept many partygoers active ‘til dawn. Everybody wanted to buy Jenz a drink to thank him for setting his ISP straight with that brilliant roundhouse kick. When it became apparent that Jenz’s obligations to the real world weren’t going to allow him to stop in, we all drank a toast in unison to the man. I swear I saw a few of those BnB guys shed a tear!

AMONG THE MANY NO-SHOWS:
ghEvans: Too busy translating authentic Samurai dialogue
Slasher13’s fiancé wouldn’t let him stay, but he did drop in to say hi.
KC_Woman: I really wanted her to show up and keep me company, but it didn’t happen. But as the party was winding down, I did get a message from her that some SB actors were in town, and she was quite certain Yuen Biao and Yuen Wah were going to be there doubling. Well she didn’t have to tell me twice! That’s when I made my departure, running out after her like the crazed Biao fan that I am. (Or a lemming; take your pick, Jamstro). After all, KC_Woman is hardly EVER wrong when it comes to spotting Biao!
Gil: Rumor has it he’s hanging with those big bad boys from L.A. who like to set things on fire.

The next day was pure hell for me. I haven’t had a hangover like that in ten years! My partygirl days are over, I’m afraid. Got to face that fact that I’m getting old. And Kurgan, WHERE THE HELL IS MY CAR? I need it back!!![/img]

Bloody hell! I remember that going up on the old board! And I do remember always thinking that Mark's avatar wasn't sleepy, but happy
This piece (of fiction, I must add :D) might answer what seemed to be random ramblings about drinking and driving on my part. Or maybe just made it worse. Who knows? :)

Good find Bobbi! :notworthy: :headbang:

I also want my old avatar (the one with the swarthy moustache) back please!

Oh, as for the topic, er, no, I can't remember what my first post was. Which is odd, as it was my first post on any board, ever. All I do remember is that I used the main site for reviews etc., but when they slowed down (on account of Jenzs' personal problems), I ventured onto the boards to get more info. That was waaaay back though.

The very first incarnation of BnB site/forum was actually created more around mid - late 2000 (I know I'm a bit sad to remember). At least, I'm pretty sure that was when I started posting on the forum. I don't know why ginger_and_jim stopped posting (I think he had a trading dispute with someone on here). Gil's rants were very amusing as was Bouch's antics. :D

I posted on the old forum under a different name - can't remember which of my aliases I used! Can't for the life of me remember what my first post was - or indeed any of them!

I'm pretty sure Gil and the current incarnation of The Running Man are one and the same - though originally I think they were seperate people. The current Running Man is one of the most obnoxious jerks I've ever had to put up with - which is a shame becuase he is dedicated and knowledeable. Hates Bey Logan and Brian White, and shares with Gil the following a) obsessive hatred of old school dubs b) obsessive bashing of those who dislike dubs

Yeah, that weird

I always assumed The Running Man = Jonathan Stathes, who also posted on BnB at one point. Jeez that guy was annoying, and Gil was also rude to most people, I remember his spat about the movie "Equilibrium" when all its plot holes that you could drive a car through were pointed out and he ignored them.

Running Man did get banned not too long ago from ADVG for being exceptionally rude. Since then, he's returned but noticeably taken a hike from Kung Fu Fandom

Year and a half old thread :D about memories, go figure :D

I cannot imagine how anyone could remember their first posts :D so long ago.

Many of the old Bullets members are still lingering on many forums acorss thet net, some similar names, some same, and some not even close :)

I remember doing a trade on a forum last year, and the adress was the same as an old bullets member. Most would not be seen dead coming back onto the forum as it is now, many said as much after it shut down the first time, never mind the 3rd time.

I think my first post was on the R2 comparison of Goldeneye. My first comparison was Tremors though shortly after that.
