Just watching the repeat - Trevor (Yes, Trevor returns) was really good when he sang the Rod Stewart classic I Don't Want To Talk About It, IMO.

Mark did you see the guy called "George" on the auditions? Very funny, seemed to barely open his mouth when singing, no offence intended, I just couldn't understand a word he was saying.

It was like Vic Reeves singing a song in the "club style"

As for that boyband, did they sing "If You're Not The One" at all? These sort of bands are a bit dull IMO.

I haven't watched Saturday's X-Factor yet. I have it on tape.

I watched Maria instead.

I watched the Maria "sing-off" but havent really been watching it otherwise.
I thought Maliz (I think) had a more forceful, richer voice, maybe more suited to musicals.. I don't know? The other one's voice was too high.

How the hell did all those old foagies get through to the next round? It's patronising tbh.

Fair play to Chloe in thats she's only 16, but she sounded really OTT and Simon was probably right when he said she was like a "packaged musical creation" with the cowboy hat and everything, plus the vocal style.
Having said that, Simon's comments are rich coming from someone who's responsible for Britney Spears (can't get much more packaged than that originally), Christina/Teletubbies
When she went out they had I'm Not a Girl (Not Yet a Woman) by Britney playing in the background.
I was certainly rooting for Roody (sp?) from Dublin, who came on once, was quite good, but Sharon wasn't there (there was a fire at her house), so the vote probably wasn't fair.. Later on he came back and got through

I think the problem is the inconsistancy in judgements. Some people who aren't that bad get turned away yet others who are the same or worse get put through. It's too subjective. How many times have we heard the panel say "you're great" and the contestant obviously isn't to anyone with good ears?

It was rather mean of Simon to say Roody was a "total waste of time" IMO, I thought he was OK Quite liked Ian too (the guy with the teddy), didn't expect to. I know you're going to say the woman in the wheelchair is PC gone mad I thought her voice was good though

What made the first Roody vote unfair I think is this - maybe it was slight arrogance on the part of Roody to think Sharon would automatically say yes just because she is Sharon - yet consider this, when there are 3 judges - 2 out of 3 of them need to say yes to swing it. And yet when there were ONLY 2 judges - the same number (2) needed to say yes to send the person through. So even with less judges, one needed a higher proportion of "yes" votes to go through.
How is that fair? If thats what Roody was getting at, fair play to the guy.

They are because they're used cynically to force a PC agenda upon the British public. You disagree? The wheelchair lady has talent so I've no problem with her appearence... why would I?

For the record I agree with you, the lady has talent and a fine voice, I'm glad she got through. I have no problem with it.
But think of it this way, if she wasn't in a wheelchair would she of got through? How many people have sang Show Me Heaven?
It also provides a "storyline" and sympathy angle for the show and the public. If Gareth Gates didn't have a stutter and hadn't exploited that (I have a stutter BTW) so older women want to mother him and teen girls fancy him, on Pop Idol would he have nearly won?

Nope, because it's to do with the cynical manipulation of the disabled. The wheelchair lady entered a competition of her own valition, was talented, and got put through. End of story. Those guys in the BBC idents are being used by a corporation to present to us a PC, all-inclusive, aren't we right-on branding. Same with the Indian and Salsa dancing idents. Hardly representative of the 'Britain' in the British Broadcasting Corporation is it?

Yeah, but they do that with a variety of contestants, most of whom have no disabilites. Look at the guy with his daughter's pocket bear. I don't see that she was treated differently at all, for or against.

I think the fact Gareth had a stammer then (he doesn't have one now ) was used by the programme, and Gareth himself, to create sympathy, to an extent. That woman could be used for a right on branding too though, TBH I can't think of many contestants who go through to Boot Camp who have physical disabilities like her.

Anyway, we're both pleased the woman got through, at least she can sing and has talent Lets leave it that that.

So you're saying she wouldn't have went through if she hadn't been disabled? I think that's unfair to both her and the programme to be honest. I'm cynical, sure, but I don't see any obvious cynicism in this case, as to me she was treated no different than any other contestant. The number of disabled people who apply is likely a tiny minority so of course we're not going to see many.

Fair enough then If that sounded unfair then I apologise, she was good But if this is used by the programme to say "Aren't we right on/PC" or something then that is bad, IMO.

Did anyone see this weekends one? It was the last week of auditins.
I noticed the woman who said she was scared of going out because of a bomb explosion in NI (or something). Terrible to be sure, but used for sympathy methinks and it makes a good story for the show She was OK singing though Whether those sorts of people (wheelchair lady, the dude with the pocket bear etc) get past boot camp I don't know

Simon has the 16-24's
Sharon has the 25 and overs
Louis has the groups

Simon was gloating over getting the 16-24's and seemed very pleased - smug git

Louis throwing the water over that ugly no-talent was class.

That was very funny

1) She couldn't sing
2) She was ugly. (Sorry, but she did nothing for me).
3) She had a terrible attitude which made her seem uglier.
4) I hate chavs.

Mark did you see the Bootcamp stage?

I did feel for shy Shaun I couldn't believe the egotism of the Brothers (I think that was the groups name) not rehearsing and going on holiday They had good voices singing the Officer and a Gentleman song, but I have had enough of bland boybands IMO.
Wheelchair lady (Kerry) was very good
