I think I remember it was a port of the Japanese collectors edition (sans DTS?). It is supposed to be superior in PQ and AQ compared to the R1 SuperBit... I have it on my shelf... alas I haven't had time to compare them yet (actually I haven't even broken it open yet... :D)

I've traded my Leon DVD and will get it from DVD Pacific. I'm still wary of pre-ordering from DVD Soon.

It's only £1 more from DVD Pacific, plus DVD Pacific on the whole send their DVDs quicker.

cost me about 7.70p from dvdsoon! :) and sold my Leon on Ebay already! after putting it up it was bid on within 5 minutes! for 7 quid! only way is up! babeeey! :P

I cannot understand why you are weary of dvdsoon at all, check out dvdforums! they adore the place! and they dont complain at all, you had 1 bad thing happen to you, pre orders always ship ages before release anyway!

Here's a review of the Korean R3:
http://www.totaldvd.net/cgi-bin/dvdrevi ... ewid=10383

And a similar review of the Japanese R2:
http://www.totaldvd.net/cgi-bin/dvdrevi ... dvdid=6320

Looks like the asian releases of this film used a print distributed by Besson's company (Gaumont) and not the CTS prints/transfers.

Both the previous R1 releases suffered from Edge Enhancement and "lackluster" soundtracks, which apparently is not the case with these R2/R3 releases. (The R2 has an added DTS track over the R3). The R1 EE was probably added because the prints were not very sharp.

They're like many e-tailors some people have problems (and I'm not the only one) and some don't. Besides either way they do take forever to ship their DVDs (most of the time). If the DVD was much cheaper then fine but it's not, all of £1.

The sound isn't lacklustre on the R1 IMO not at all. Those reviews are very much one persons opinion. I thought that when I first read them.

p.s - R1 EE?

Yes you're right thanks. I've yet to remotely notice it so talk of EE doesn't interest me at all. All I know is the R1 has a very good picture and I'm sure the Korean or Japanese DVDs are the same.

PQ has never been an issue for Leon.

How big is your TV? Perhaps its hard to spot on normal W/S TVs like mine say and you'd only see it on plasmas or something?

From that review the pictures made out to be shit, with far too many problems! in fact they make it sound pretty bad all round. Even the Subtitles look crap! Looks like it was a pointless upgrade afterall.

The yellow subtitles look fine to me and I think theyd be very easy to read. I'd have more issue with the nasty looking text that was used for the "trivia" track TBH... :)

I agree but (maybe unfairly) it only annoys me when it comes to non-English films.

R1 distributors like them it seems.

My DE arrived the other day. The AV is excellent as expected, no complaints from me. The extras while a little limited are very good. An hours worth of quality extras. I ended up watching them all back to back.

I watched most of Leon to. I'd forgotten how perfect a film it is. The DC is such a better film. It annoys me the gutless American executives were to scared of the sexual connotations. Leon and Stansted (the cop) are so well written characters, as is Matilda to.

OMG Luc Besson's wife is gorgeous (I presume she's is wife), she is in the extras:

I think the sexual undertones are really very tame, and the studio must have been overacting like they always do to anything slightly suggestive. Its not like anything happens physically between the two.

Who is Stansted? I think Gary Oldman's character is called Stansfield? Anyway, I disagree about him being well written. He is far too OTT and is more of a pyscho caricature than a proper character.
