Just thinking, but the PS3 is BRplayer plus you can install linux on it: is it possible to install a linux program on your PS3 that will let you play BluRays from other regions!?

Surely Games will no longer work? So you may as well buy a Panasonic BD-DMP50. I guess it would be cheaper though.

Yeah, it's just another name for it, as is 'Just Scan'.

The biggest drawback of LCD technology (I'm not up to with plasma), aside from response times, is that a panel only supports one resolution. 1:1 pixel mapping (which is the standard name, the rest are all brand buzzwords) is basically the best form of scaling around. Allowing for preserved aspect ratios, no overscan, lower resolution inputs looking the least like blurry messes on high res panels.

I'm well aware of that fact & thats one of the main reasons I went for the BD50 over the BD30. I have an amp with 6 channel input which I can use for the BD player. I can't afford to update to a newer amp aswell, plus I don't have room for the new Panasonic BX500, so I was happy to put the extra money into the BD50.

I really don't see the point in upgrading to HD picture without going to HD sound, which is why I didn't just go for the cheaper PS3.

And I'm well aware you work for Panasonic. You're not the only member on this forum .

I imagine the Analogue outputs will make for a good substitute over HDMI.

Me either. Hence why I waited for the player I wanted to support it. I'll upgrade the Amp later, my Player already supports it.

I want a new TV first though.
