Got my Tevion this afternoon. Hooked up and playing no probs (an HDMI cable was included). Tried the small mountain of discs I pre-bought and they all played without a hitch. All of them are region free so I can't confirm about multi-region at this point... unless someone wants to loan me a region A disc to test. Any questions... I'll do my best to answer.

I have the Criterion BDs of Chungking Express and The Seventh Seal Mark, you want to borrow one or both? I'd be sending them recorded delivery and would want them returned the same way (as that's £40 down the crapper if they're damaged in transit).

Tested a Region A disc and can confirm that the code works.

Before the disc was region blocked.

After I entered the six-digit code it played fine.

So if you guys are looking for a budget-priced multi-region player that's good quality and doesn't need outside tampering........

Is it that one Salty linked on Asda? There are a few Region A's I want so this sounds tempting.

This is an incredible find and for £120 is a complete no-brainer purchase imo. My dad was in a local Aldi yesterday and reckoned they still had these (at least there was one on display in their glass cabinet) will run through my finances and will likely try and pick one up over the weekend.thanks Mark.

I got mine from Aldi. I think they're basically the same. But I wouldn't buy anything without checking. For example my Tevion is superior to the Curtis players they were selling in Currys. You'd need to find out if those Asda players are Profile 2.0 and decode HD audio etc. I can't personally recommend anything but the Tevion right now.

But yes you're right you want to make sure it's BD Live/Profile 2 and can handle DTS-HD/TrueHD either via on-board or bitstream (the later much more likely, given the price).

Haven't tried any regular DVDs.

Just use it for BDs.

Well only set it up this afternoon and checked for the multi-region firstly- I,Robot looked stunning,it seemed to have more depth to the picture than the Sony.I Then watched Shaolin Soccer which looked ok,not great but that's probably down to the source.i notice when you press the display button it just gives a chapter reading,on my other 2 display would give you the bitrate and the type of encoding used (avc/mpeg/vc-1)..it's a little annoying there seems no option to dim the blue display lights but that's no biggie.So far so good...this is a clone of the momitsu HKFlix sell isn't it?

I get none of that on my LG BD/HD-DVD Player. I did on my ex-Pioneer DVD Player (obviously to what is relevant). It's the sort of thing you never get on lesser models.

I don't care but it really annoys me all I get is "duration" and not "time left" or "total time". This is particularly annoying for extras, where the length isn't often listed.

I Have a sony 350 standalone.

Normally I'd agree but given both can be bought BD MR I'm still interested. As in it would be this or that. The comparison between this and your Sony BD Player would be interesting. Even a few words would be handy, such as things missing the Sony has.

Fair enough.have a read of those momitsu links i posted earlier-this is the same player.
