I never said I had a better one

. But seriously Damon and Greengrass take this lark seriously, Walker (at least in part) does it for the money.

of that i have no doubt but what exactly does that fact have to do with my original point

It's much, much more likely Walker and Diesel would return than Damon and Greengrass. Damon has also said he wouldn't do another one without Greengrass.

where's that facepalm! Again what's that got to do with my original point which was a big film series has survived the two main franchise stars being missing from one of the films

as you can't give an example, here's another one.Halloween

Maybe but the chances of either Greengrass or Damon returning for Part 5 would be very unlikely indeed. Whereas Walker and Diesel is likely. Walker takes the work he can get and Diesel's career has dried up.

you keep banging on about Greengrass as though the franchise would collapse without him when in fact having a fresh director could well be a good thing.and judging by their last collaboration, the disappointing Green Zone it's probably a good thing to separate Greengrass from his muse.

Not at all. It's the choice of director I'm concerned about. Writers for the most part should stick to writing, Blade 3 anyone? Or how about Tony Curtis? An awesome writer, director? Not so much.
Green Zone is excellent.

Jeremy Renner to play the lead:

I have so low expectations of this, maybe just maybe I'll like it. I still think they should leave Bourne now. A Bourne film without Bourne? Right, okay.

Taggart has been running on tv for years without Taggart

haven't seen Renner in much,The Hurt Locker was ok but not really my cup of tea. He's Hawkeye in the new Avengers movie so his star is clearly on the rise.

That's a bad example. It's rubbish now Taggart is no longer in it. The same goes for Morse.

I like that Greengrass isn't returning, as I'd like to shove that shaky-cam of his up his ass for an improv colonoscopy...
Too bad that Matt Damon isn't returning though, as I thought he did very well in the role.

Well both have lasted for years after the title character died so i guess the viewing public disagree with you.as for me,i wouldn't know as i've never watched either show before or after. After Thaw's immortal Jack Regan i couldn't imagine him in any other detective role. And for the record, Green Zone is a forgettable effort all round.

The series Morse ended for good after John Thaw died I thought? Lewis is a spin off but isnt the same series.

The Bond to Bourne comparison is old, not to mention inaccurate.

Try reading a bit more next time. I was responding to Salty.

I guess you're right but look at "My Family". It ran for about a decade but was almost always dreadful, the two leads on occasion refusing to act their scenes because the scripts were so poor. I don't think it was especially popular, like The Bill it got enough viewership for them to bother.
grim_tales wrote:Lewis is a spin off but isnt the same series.
That's stretching it. It's the same character, same setting, same colleagues, same everything. Lewis is no Morse.
Both Taggart and Morse were the point of the show (like Gene Hunt too), take them away and there's no show left.

Have to say that does look good

Lets hope the new lead can fill Matt Damon's shoes.
