Leon has been knocking around for ages at that price,Toy Story 3 i got from Zavvi for £11.65 and i got Heat for cheaper than that when it was first released.the 2 for £12 promotion you linked to started in September,nothing to do with black friday.

Yeah, I should've said that the discounts last a full seven days (from Cyber Monday).

Black Friday is a US sale, did anyone sane and rational of mind expect the UK to actually match the US counterpart? It was always going to be some weak cross-site pretend tie in. Saying that the US Black Friday sale hasn't been as impressive this year as last, but I did get to order The Princess Bride and The Proposition for $8.99 and $9.99 respectively and there are still titles like Big Trouble in Little China and Fight Club to be had for $10.

Just saw 'Heat' for $7.99.

They had a Sony TV up on the lighting deals that they are selling at £999 normally, listed for £399 or something like that. First proper amazing deal I've seen.

Missed out on it though..

Absolute shite this sale,the american one while not as good as last year still had a few decent bargains,picked up Groundhog Day,Young Frankenstein,Brooklyn's Finest and Big Trouble for my brother reasonably cheap.

Are a few I've spotted, for under tens bucks. I've no idea if they're bargains before anyone pipes up but they're good prices. I was going to go for Fight Club (and Natural Born Killers) but after postage, Fight Club is basically the same price in America as The UK.

I got lightning deals on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

$4.99 each.

There are so many bargains to list but especially cheap are The Wrestler, The Simpsons, and Slumdog Millionaire all for $6.49 each.

Dude, they're called 'lightning deals' for a reason. You have to know about them in advance. Otherwise they disappear within minutes (sometimes seconds). I was just pointing out that you can get good bargains at .com if you look.

I only got around to looking yesterday evening . How did you know about them in advance? Buying BDs has lost almost all it's appeal. I now 99% of the time stick to my "want list", which covers 15 or so titles.

I wouldn't say a hard on, more like a semi. I adore Moulin Rouge, Romero and Juliet is good but I'm happy with my DVD, I've never seen Strictly Ballroom (but have the DVD) and Australia was fun but no keeper. So yep, more like a semi .

I know what he means, I've certainly lost the urge to buy anything and everything just to see how it looks in HD.

When certain HD transfers trouble you to the extent of ruining your life it's time to take a step back and take up knitting.

Personally, I haven't bothered much with BD's either yet. It's a combination of different reasons:

1: Price. I feel 10 euro is pretty much the max. I'm willing to spend on a movie. There are exceptions ofcourse, like the new Battle Royale LE release, but most of the movies I don't want to spend too much money on.

2: Quality. I'm not THAT anal, so DVD's when upscaled properly (PS3 does a nice job) still look damn pretty, so in many cases I'm not in a rush to upgrade, and I can wait for the movies that I don't have yet, to go on sale.

3: Supply. Or to be more clear, a lack of supply. There really aren't many 'must-have' movies for me out yet on BR, or if they are, they might not be in the best way released. I want Hard Boiled. I want My Sassy Girl DC, I want the Wong Kar Wai movies, I want Drunken Master 2, etc etc etc.

So far, the only BR I have is Kung Fu Panda, and Battle Royale is on order. That's it. There also aren't really many releases I'm looking forward to...

You can get plenty BDs for under €10 (£8.50). The vast majority of my UK discs cost less than that.

If you're primarily into Asian movies I really wouldn't bother with Blu Ray.

BTW. Hard-Boiled comes out in December. But it's DD so expect disappointment.
