See first post for final tie.
I won't be voting in the final because I haven't seen ITMOM.

Why has Halloween dropped out if it has 3 too?

In case of a draw the film with the highest IMDB rating goes thru in extra time. I felt that was fairer than my choosing the victor. I mentioned it somewhere in the thread but will add it to the main post next itme.

it's a laudable concept and good on you for starting it,but it's a clearly skewed system when AOP13 & Halloween bow out & the ok but unremarkable ITMOM gets to the final

I know what you mean... but that's how the World Cup works in reality. Luck of the draw and all that. Besides the best/most popular movie should ultimately win. I don't believe it's possible for two mediocre/average movies to get to the final. AOP13 was just unlucky to come up against a potential winner in the first round.

Pfft, Halloween should be the winner.

AOP13 should've won.
You should never put 2 big guns against each other in the opening round.
Don't you know it NEVER works like that?

Agree with the above.Pitting 2 of his best movies against each other in the first round was a little odd tbh.

The results say otherwise. You don't get to decide by yourself.

See above.

I called it the first round (for simplicity) but really it's the knockout stages. I didn't choose to put up "big guns" against each other on purpose. The matches were listed based on career chronologically rather than my cherry picking ties and setting up personal favourites to ensure they get through. If it was up to me AOP13 would have been in the final, but it wasn't to be. Sometimes France and Italy go out early......

Why? What if I'd pulled them out of a hat and the first tie was Halloween vs The Thing? People still would have complained. I think you're being unfair.
Not a random selection!!
Random enough for our purposes. I'm not gonna hire Pele for a public draw. Chronological means that there can be no cheating (though I'm pleased you all trust me so much). It's not my fault Carpenter made his best films within a short space of time. Chronology may work better with other directors. We'll see.
