Rumors About a Possibly Longer Cut on Blu-ray
After The Dark Knight, the expectations regarding The Dark Knight Rises were immense. However, not everybody saw them met and critics weren't as blown away as they were by the predecessor. One contributing fact might be that Bane didn't get as much attention as he was supposed to have.
The home video release on Blu-ray might change this situation, though. As NuketheFridge reports, their sources tell them that Warner Bros. is currently working on a Director's Cut of The Dark Knight Rises. According to them, this new version runs about 30 minutes longer and would lengthen the film's runtime to a slim 194 minutes.
The new material is said to deal with the origins of Bane and should integrate him more in the film in general. On top of that, Ra's Al Ghul would get more screentime.
The fact that Christopher Nolan has never done a longer version of any of his other films before could pose as a counterargument. However, as the saying goes, "never say never". Maybe the upcoming announcement of the DVD and Blu-ray release by Warner Bros. reveals if there might be a Director's Cut of The Dark Knight. Otherwise, it's also possible that this might be made public later on to make more cash.
The home video releases are expected to come out late in 2012.

Ah thanks. I have the BR but haven't watched it yet. I've seen the movie in the cinema though. The IMAX scenes are very impressive though.
