What build of XBMC are you running? I'm running the latest version (v.2.01) and you can pause, fast forward, rewind, whatever you want. You can stop it playing using the B button.

Try upgrading to the latest version for loads more features. DVD support was a bit patchy a while back, but now it is much better.
EvaUnit02 wrote:90% of PAL games still support 480p. You have to switch Xbox to NTSC mode though. Use the Enigmah Switchdisc program to switch your Xbox's BIOS EEPROM from PAL to NTSC modes and vice versa on the fly.
Yeah, I play my games in 480p on a 37" plasma screen. :) 480p is so much better than standard 576i for games. It makes a world of difference.

slasher13 wrote:Err actually what the best modchip to get on the xbox
It's more a question of BIOS than chip. Anything running the Xecuter v3.0 and higher should do.
Yi-Long wrote:BTW, is it possible to play Battlefield 2 on a modded xbox, from the HD, over a network that ISNT Xbox Live?
Totally, use Xbconnect (it's also 100% free).
And are there many people online?
No clue.

but I'd love to be able to watch my downloaded anime on my TV
Regarding the downloaded videos:- word of warning about H.264/X264/MP4/MKV (matroska) encoded videos. The Xbox doesn't have enough processing power to properly play them. I say this as more and more anime fansub groups are adopting the better H.264-related codecs; which offer better compression at the same file-size as a XVID/DivX, multiple audio track support and removable soft-sub streams. It does require more processing power though.
IronMonkey wrote:What build of XBMC are you running? I'm running the latest version (v.2.01)
The latest T3CH build (2.01). (Slim version, I don't need crap like Milkdrop). I did copy retain my UserData folder from an April 06 build though.

Anyone here know of any decent games for the 360? My brother's bought DOA4, and I got Dead Rising and Gears Of War for the noisy machine.
It would help if that's it, cos I'm getting a Wii this week, and would need some cash for that

Oh, and was anyone else shocked by the size of the power adapter for the thing?! I can't say I'm overly happy to have the 360 so soon in the house, but I needed something to go with the LG 50" TV :D

Splinter Cell Double Agent looks excellent for Xbox360, also what about Call of Duty 3?

Rainbow 6 Vegas is supposedly very good...

@ eva: Thanks for the info, man. Kinda sucks that it wont play the newest anime due to codecs and stuff...

Anyway, regareding battlefield 2, which I still like playing. I've learned that it's much smarter that when you are a sniper, you stay the hell away from busy areas. Nowadays, I just pick a good spot outside the town or outside the primary battlefield, and pick off a few victims... :D

My brother likes the Splinter Cell games, but I've never been able to get into them (nor the Rainbow 6 games), to be honest. As for Call Of Duty 3, well, I am going to get it, but on a platform that's being released this Friday ;)

Hey Kurgan, check out the following: xbox360 vs PS3 vs Wii Comparison
To me Wii looks a bit off, actually what do you think?

I've so far only played Splinter Cell 1 and 3. I have pt 2 but somehow never bothered playing it (quickly played the first level for 10 minutes orso, then played other games again...)

But they're absolutely great. Pt 1 is very good, especially when it just came out.
Pt 3 is a definite improvement though, with better gameplay and graphics It's the best stealthgame I've played. I'm now at level 6 or something (Japan level). The only thing that's so absolute shite about SC3 (and other Ubisoft games have the same problem I hear), is that you can't click away the movies, which is extremely annoying at the start of the game, where there is a huge one, which you have to watch, before you can load a save file...
cant believe they were a; so dumb as to leave that big ass mistake in, and b; havent fixed it with a patch.
I would play the game more often if it wouldnt take 5 minutes orso to start playing...

You can actually click away that video once the game has cached the files to the hard drive. If you turn your XBox off after playing and play the same game again next time, the cache files do not need to be reloaded so you can skip that video straight away.

Which is good for me as I tend to play one game until I've completed it before moving on to the next...

In terms of graphics, no, the Wii version doesn't look as good as the PS3 or 360. But in terms of control, I'm sure the Wii will wipe the floor with them. Depending on how it's handled, it could even supersede *gasp* mouse and keyboard as the premier method of controlling FPS games. It will never become the premier machine for FPS games, but as a control method it seems so intuitive; literally, point and shoot.

Yeah, I already knew that, but I tend to play the game for say, 1 evening, maybe finish 1, sometimes 2 levels, and then play another game the next day (like Pro Evo 5, NBA street, or lately, Battlefield 2)

So each time I start with SC3 again, it's whiped from the memory, so I have to sit through the movie again. Which obviously sucks.

It's also sucha basic thing to allow a person to click away a movie, so I cant figure out why the hell they forgot that option, or didnt fix it afterwards. Otherwise, Ubisoft is usually great, but this is a minor yet major negative point.

Thats my point though. The video plays whilst the game is loading in the background. What would you rather see? A "Loading..." screen? I don't mind videos while stuff is loading in the background. Its the same for Far Cry Instincts, Doom 3, etc...

Man, I went to sleep early yesterday night, so I would wake up in time to be in front of the store before it opens in order to get my Wii. I went to bed at like 1 am. Guess what. I kept waking up and then I completely woke up ut 5 am. I feel like Cartman in the episode where he is waiting for the Wii to be released, lol.

Seriously, I never ever did that with another console.

"Come on... come on..."

That games list has increased a bit. Got Fight Night for the 360, and Zelda, Red Steel, Wii Play and Call Of Duty 3 for the Wii.

I'm awesome at bowling :D

I got that Rayman Raving Rabbids yesterday. Only played it for about 15 minutes so far, but it seems like a lot of mentalist fun :D

Just been playing some old games again lately which I stopped playing for whatever reason.
I already mentioned I've gotten back to Wind Waker and hope to finish it these weeks orso. I have no clue as to how far in I am... but I think I'm past 50% at least.

Anyway, some old xbox games I picked up again:
- Burnout 3; liked it when I just got it, but dropped it once it got a little bit too hard, and I think when I started playing rallisport Challenge 2 or Forza...

- SSX On Tour; Played SSX3 to death, then got this one a few months ago but never really got into it. The interface is gorgeous but also a mess, so it's hard to really keep track on what you're doing and all. I also liked the upgrade method and just pickinga character in SSX3 better. In On Tour you make your own guy/girl, and upgrading seems like a bitch.

Nothing wrong with the gameplay though... and recently been trying it out a bit again. But seems like it's a bit harder to do tricks with this new one. I was absolutely GREAT at SSX3, but here I just seem to fuck around, not really knowing what I'm doing, when it comes to tricks and stuff... which is a shame.

- Fable Lost Chapters: havent played this in a long while now, so not quite sure what to do, mission-wise. I just came across some sort of temple where 2 dudes wanted me to bring 'offerings/followers' Just killed the 2 guys, but didnt save when I turned the console off... so it wont affect anything. I do have to say I think the controls and camera etc are a bit awkward in this game. I really should get back into this, or maybe I should just start all over again... I'm not sure.

Also, I have women falling in love with me everywhere I go... but how can I have sex with them? Dont tell me I have to marry the bitches first... !?

Well a couple of days ago I made a monumental achievement in that I completed Ninja Gaiden Black on Very Hard mode! Anyone who has played the game will realise just how big an achievement that is...

I love this game so much! Master Ninja mode is proving rather difficult though...

Really looking forward to playing that game some day. But cant help you out, man. You should try the gamefaqs boards and you'll probably find answers there.

BTW, isnt it censored in Germany? you guys have pretty strict and dumb-ass censorship laws...
How about Dead Rising? Did it even get a release?

Both games are banned, yes.

I'll check out GameFAQs then, thanks.
