I've been listening to Two Suns on Spotify. WOW! What a talent. I've not heard such original music in ages. That Daniel song is so beautiful. I love how she infuses so many different sounds together but it works.

Thanks for the You Tube links Romero. The Daniel one in particular is very good and surprisingly the HQ version is very good quality. You should have a read of the BBC article I posted above. She's clearly a clever cookie, with so much going on it that head of hers. So much so that one MTV journalist almost asked her to marry him .

Thanks for the heads up guys. I reckon I'll buy her new album. I'll have a listen to her first album tomorrow. I suspect I wouldn't have asked if it wasn't for the distinctive album art.

Oh I see what you mean. I've been to a few gigs where the artist isn't yet big enough, so they like it but tbh for me I've no real interest in meeting the artist. I prefer listening/paying attention from a distance.

What are you going to say? Apart from something probably stupid and come across as a right buffoon. I've certainly no interest in hanging around with a load of other fans. Still it's probably the best way to get any decent photos.

Just seemed to pop up and I liked it, then I think I saw a video of hers and thought jesus thats good.
She has never been in the charts much at all, she gets lots of praise and awards, but airplay is small as she is not a pop tart who flings her tits at the camera.

She seems religated to Radio 2 and thats about all I have seen of her, shame. Still she sells well album wise, so she is one of those artists who sells, but is not pimping herslef like a slut to the media

I did not know what she looked like when I first got her album, so its a plus she is a looker

You're right it's probably not a commercial enough sound but then not everything on the radio strictly is but many of that does well.

It probably says a lot about how more in tune Radio 2 is than Radio 1.

She's certainly good looking. I love her dress sense, very unique.

Is Pitchfork Media good then? It's American right? I'm reading their review of Two Suns now.

It's the only music news/reviews site I use, and have done for years. It's good because it deals with good music rather than just that shite on the radio.

Cool, thanks. I do find those sorts of sites can be a bit snobby and ignore certain types of music because it's considered uncool.

Granted much music on the radio is entirely manufactured but some is sung by talented people, just in a more commercial fashion and it gets ignored. Radio 1 for instance only seem to play "what they consider cool".

I've been listening to Bat for Lashes first album. I don't like it half as much. Sure it's good but I doubt I'd have bothered to check out new music based on this album. I'm with Gas Two Suns is definitely better.

Interesting it's a 16 in NZ, when it's 12A here and PG-13 in America. 16 is a more suitable rating.

Does NZ get the same cut the UK DVD/US got?

Kids around 12 years old and younger can still get into M rated films, it's a recommendation and NOT a restriction. I remember going to M-rated films when I was about 11, I would usually go see action flicks with my Dad. Eg Universal Soldier: The Return was M-rated. I probably saw quite with just my buddies (same age).

Highly likely, but Warner BDs are region free so that they can sell the same disc globally. I dunno about the DVD and don't really care.

Good point. I more meant the "recommended" age is higher. Being 16 means 12s can see it but presumabely not 8 year olds? Which they can with our 12A.

Fur and Gold is a great album, many of the tracks reminded of me of various great female artists: Bjork, an early Sarah Mclachlan, kate bush, and a more poppy Loreena Mckennitt (who is one of the most exceptional female vocalists out there). Two Suns is very reminiscent of early Mclachlan!

I saw it on a film festival last fall. It was some sort of "Studio Ghibli approved digi-beta screening". I don't really even know what that means. But the same source was used for the dvd (Native PAL). But there's only Finnish subs.

Finland suddenly went Ghibli crazy a few years ago and now almost all Miyazaki films + a couple of non-Miyazaki movies have been released theatrically (most of them for the first time).

Castle in the Sky is playing in theatres right now. But unfortunately only in bigger cities.

Digi-Beta is an abbreviation of Digital Betacam, 'nuff said.

I'm talking very early Mclachlan: Touch, Solace, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy.

Touch and Solace plus another are the three I have.

They're her best albums if you ask me, give em a revisit & see what you think. It's only my personal opinion afterall mind.

Not Touch, Surfacing sorry. I also have Afterglow, which I do like. I got the other two in a cheap box set but yes I do need to give them another listen.
